the other night i went to a friends house, i hadn't seen him for ages and he's like 6'2" or something and as soon as i saw him i made some comment about feeling small and he didn't help matters by patting me on the head and stuff to make me feel even smaller  yeah ausaims i love it when that happens, i have a few friends who are slightly smaller than me so i always feel tall round them |

yeah some people pat me on the head too ! grrr lol
i find that if i make a comment about myself being small first the person im with tends not to take the mick at all cos they think its not gonna affect me
it doesnt anymore cos im used to it,but you get the occasional person who wants to be annoying as hell and remind you every 5 seconds to which point i shout something like "YES I KNOW IM SHORT,YOU DONT NEED TO BLOODY REMIND ME!" lol!

One observation on short people who have strong personalities... they tend to be too aggressive. I am not kidding. Not too aggressive on a negative sense, mind you, but they project SOMETHING, and that makes them, er, figuratively tall. I am short in comparison probably to the rest of the world (in this side of the globe I am considered medium-built, not petite), but to be perfectly honest, everytime I get to be beside a tall stranger, I tend to squirm. If that tall person is a friend, I tend to hop and sort of tiptoe as I walk. And NOBODY would dare to pat me on the head. But I know someone who does weird things to my head ie touch the forehead, ruffle the hair, etc, when I'm, uh, drunk I agree, ausaims, LUCKY THEM, because if not... |

What I mean is, it's hard to imagine me being 5'10" instead of 4'10" and having this personality. People have even told me I'm intimidating when they first meet me...I don't think it's such that I'm overcompensating, but that it's simply the way I am, so I'm meant to be this size. Also, it helps me relate to my students....if I pat them, it's on their shoulder, instead of their head, because I understand.... Donna |

I agree about the strong personality thing,I'm a bit like that,i've always been on the short side,but when you usually meet someone you can figure out what their personality is like after getting to know them,but ive been told with me you can tell after about 5 minutes as being in the same room as me! LOL. But i wouldnt say its agressiveness,just a strong personality but mind you im still growing lol |

We're over. lolDonna donna? really how dare you!  after all we've been through??! kinda late, because i didn't see this until..Today..roflol ;D ;D and about the head patting thing..well, i can't help it..i can't go on my knees to pat them on the shoulder...it's more accessible that way.. i've noticed that height deprived ppl (trying to be politically correct here..don't kill me) are really agressive..no really, i'm not joking..they feel that they have to kick at your legs, or pinch the back of your knees, or bite your ankels, or be mean to make a point..well, you don't...my 2 short friends have more evil in them than my whole gigantic family! lol ;D |
