That 'mass transformation' is something that has been popularly around eversince the Celestine Prophecy got published and all those 'Insights'. (anyway, I only read the first few chapters of CP but for some reason I would rather read five pages of 'Finnegan's Wake' than to endure another chapter of CP ) If you guys notice, there was this trend when everyone was turning to Buddhism and the other Asian spiritual practices, and then now, Deepak Chopra is the 'in' thing...
It's simply an observation, when you guys think about it. Everything is starting to become too casual, I guess it has to do with the fact that our lifestyles now are very different as compared before... taboos are starting to get questioned and opposed and yes, unlived. But then, does that make us more ourselves and more human, or are we going back to the age of the savages? (ahh... being noble and savage!) So I guess, there's also this underlying shift that takes place to turn things around make and life more simple (or less complicated) than it is.
Regarding relationships, I can see there's also this transformation among women. It's true that women's libs have been around for ages, but we have to admit, it's still not as successful because there are still more 'powerful' men than women, BUT women are putting their foot down when it comes to relationships (and hurrah, other things!) I have also observed that most of the 'worthy' men are most likely to be homosexuals (or have shades of), and women who are on the move are the ones with balls.
Sexual stereotypes are very complicated, I mean, come on, we have hetero-, homo-, bi-, trans-... it can be downright ridiculous.
Example, my friend used to be with a girl for three years, but they'd broken up, and now the two are after men. So does that make them part homo-, bi- or simply confused at that point of their lives? My answer would be, well, they were once in-love and wanted to be with each other. That simple.
And jen, that's not snobbery... and it's not about having 'high' standards, it's having them
And hailhail to McBealism:
"Even if I get past my problems I'm just going to go out and get new ones!"
"Whoever said that 'plenty of fish in the sea' thing was wrong. Sometimes there's only one fish. Trust me."
"I'm human, I'm temperamental, I'm guilty, and I'm ovulating!"
"Where does it say that women can't act like men sometimes? I saw a cute piece of meat and I said to myself, you only live once. Be a man."
"I have a great imaginary world, but sometimes I just need things to happen."
"We're women. We have double standards to live up to."
Aahhh, makes me wish that the first and second seasons of Ally McBeal would last forever and ever and ever...
