exactly like if some1 famous says they're gay there's a big fuss made outta it (example when will from uk pop idol said he was gay he was on the front pages of newspapers) so why not make a fuss when some1 says they're straight!!!!

I know, it's completely dumb if you ask me. They go all their way just to say something about being gay and what not.. Waste of time really.

i know really! that's no different from being prejudiced against african or asian people or whatever (no offense, i'm asian, and my best friend is african). why not put someone like michael jordan on the front page and say, "omg! this dude's black!" i mean, please

wow! enlightened people!
at many of the hp-related message boards i've peeked in on, the mere mention of "slash" or any such related topic brought on pages and pages of posts screaming about how gross and wrong and sick and disgusting the very idea of homosexuality was, and how the person should be banned from the board for even mentioning such a thing.
nice to find people of the same mind as i. love is love. how can we hope to put any borders on such a powerful force, especially one as insignifigant as gender?

dulcinea, i agree totally with u! it annoys me how people get annoyed with slash fanfics too, u always get some people saying "but they're not gay!" they just don't get that it's fiction u can't chose who u fall in love with, u don't fall in love with a gender but a person!

u can't chose who u fall in love with, u don't fall in love with a gender but a person! That is totally right.. and people should realize that. I don't understand why everyone goes crazy over that. And slash well people really have to learn that it IS fiction.. get it through your heads, please.

the thing is, hp slash makes perfect sense... look at how few really well-developed females there are in the books. hermione is a dynamic character, and i suppose ginny is as well, but most of the girls (lavender, parvati, cho, pansy, etc) are very much one-sided. the number of possible pairings, and truly interesting pairings, shoots way up when you start putting boys together with other boys.
as well, if you want to write about the adult characters, you've got virtually no women to work with. thus, unless you're content to pair off all the marauders off with lily evans one by one, or you really are curious about the love life of prof. mcgonagall, where does that leave you?

Actually, if you do think about it, it does make sense. I didn't think of it that way really.. But it's a perfect reason for writing it, because I can't find any good female/male pairings.. it's usually all about the men in the book so you don't find very much on the female population of Hogwarts.

exactly. even just with harry and other boys, you have all the best archetypal relationships - good and evil, best friends, enemies, father figure, mentor, teacher/student... the list goes on and on.
best friends being my favorite. aw. i'm such a mushball ;P

i don't like any m/f pairings in harry potter, non of them seem right! and it is much more interesting pairing draco/harry then say harry/ginny
and i don't think any1 is interested in mcgonagalls love life! lol

I know, Harry/Draco is way better than I guess any m/f pairing I've heard of. I mean, that seems right, the m/f ones don't
