Meaning we've taken him for sweet and innocent when he tries to hide that he doesn't like LA.. but that was meant to be sarcastic lol

maybe he just wasn't expecting that someone would like him. i mean, not that this would ever happen, but if i found out that some1 from another country was in love w/ me, i'd pretty much die of heart attack

Well I live in Florida, which is 3000 miles closer to London than LA. Do I have a chance?

CC chat transcript (they didn`t keep ravenclaw reaction and LA comment, grrr):
Lizo: And Christian how did you get to hear about it and eventually land the prize role of Tom Riddle?
Christian Coulson: Well my agent told me he'd set up the audition and I went in and they told me I was the second person that they saw for the part. And then over six months they saw about 2,000 other people, because I'm around the same age and casting and I had to go in three or four times to audition again with the director and then do a screen test and then try on costumes - to see how I would look kind of with hair done the way they wanted it and so on. And then eventually, just before Christmas, they told me that I could play the role.
Victoria, 15, Basingstoke How did you get into the character of Tom Riddle and his other side and is he anything like you?
Christian Coulson: Well there's lots of bits of me in there I think but I don't behave like that all the time. And I guess it's such a serious part in many ways and cold. He doesn't seem to enjoy anything, so a lot of it came from the way I behave when I'm miserable or angry or whatever. So I guess that's kind of where I started from in order to put the characters together.
Lizo: Was there any kind of procedure you went through to get into character as Tom Riddle?
Christian Coulson: I listened to quite a lot of quite serious heavy music - I listened to a lot of trash metal and rap around the time we were filming.
Lizo: So you think Tom Riddle's into rap?
Christian Coulson: No I don't think he is but that sort of anger about stuff was useful. I find listening to music really good for all sorts of parts, I normally kind of narrow in on a certain sort of music I'm going to listen to while filming something so that was what I did for that.
Molly, 10, London What it's like playing somebody as charismatic as Tom Riddle?
Christian Coulson: I don't know what the answer to that is because you can't really make the decision to be charismatic or not, I guess if that's the way it comes across then that's what I was doing in the audition. If you kind of start trying to do those things and it goes wrong you look like an idiot.
Elise, 16, Los Angeles I totally loved you in the Chamber of Secrets are you single?
Christian Coulson: Yes I am.
Liz, Manchester Christian, if you had the choice of being in any Hogwarts House which one would you be in?
Christian Coulson: Either Gryffindor or Slytherin but I don't know what decision I'd make.
Lizo: If you had to choose one of them?
Christian Coulson: Well I'm probably going to have to say Gryffindor because I don't want to be evil.
Elizabeth, 14, USA Was it hard playing a character who was much younger than you?
Christian Coulson: No because a lot of the work to make me look young is kind of makeup and hair and then because he's been around for 50 years it actually makes sense that it would have a slightly kind of older feel to it. I really like that about it as well - the idea that behind the eyes there's someone kind of much older and more developed.
Jane, 15, Philippines What was the most memorable experience you had while filming the movie? I think you were both really great in it.
Christian Coulson: Getting to work with Richard Harris was fantastic - I mean I've always thought he was amazing so that was great.
Lucy, 11, Manchester What kind of music do you all like?
Christian Coulson: I listen to all sorts. At the moment I'm listening to Ms Dynamite a lot and Cold Play - I guess they're really different. But I just listen to whatever but not Will or Gareth I'm sorry to say.
Sarah, 14, USA I'd like to know about any pranks or laughs on the set.
Christian Coulson: No, none. It was all very serious. There were pranks on the set but I never got any - Daniel played jokes on people but he never played any on me.
Raven, 15 Have you managed to keep anything from the set?
Christian Coulson: No, I had a prefect's badge that I really wanted and all the stuff goes out to museums around the world so you can't really steal it because that would be wrong. So no I didn't.
Copak, 15, San Francisco Christian, what kind of books are you reading at the moment?
Christian Coulson: I'm reading The Little Friend, at the moment, by Donna Tart, which is her new novel.
Lizo: Were you both big Harry Potter fans before you got the parts?
Christian Coulson: I read them for the auditions, I'd been kind of putting them off and then I loved them, so I became a fan.

I did notice the L.A. reaction, but I just simply took it that he didn't exactly consider he'd reach as far as L.A. when it comes to fanbase. Maybe he's not THAT ready for that celebrity status then! He's probably trained to be more of an artist than a celebrity, which is THANK GOD.
I am not so sure, do you guys reckon he's got this problem with DISTANCES? I personally know people who has problems with such, like they're comfortable where we are and their little world. Or maybe thoughts of Hollywood, the whole life of it, flashes before his eyes... I wouldn't be surprised if THAT is not his cup of tea.
Just saw CoS again (3x), and my sister agreed with me after seeing the interview that he seems so unlike Tom, even how he looks. She's quite surprised that the guy on the BBC interview plays Tom Riddle, that sinister kid in the second HP movie!
By the way, my sis says CC looks like John Meyer. DOES HE? I kinda saw the resemblance, plus a bit of Dan and Tobey Maguirre...
Oh, I am starting to think that he can't even sunny LA with cloudy London, if you know what I mean... maybe the thought of too much sunshine and girls in bikinis on rollerblades is not that too, uh, common for his world.

OT, now this is how a movie should be promoted, look at all those beautiful people who got the spotlight: www.theonering.net/perl/newsview/8/1038653566Click on Miranda otto interview, she isn`t into fame thing at all so maybe CC is like that, thinking that action figures are rubbish and avoiding LA scene like plague. Just an idea.

I AGREE. New Line Cinema is promoting ALL of the characters in the movie....they're giving publicity to even the unknown non-major players.....and note, even tho last year both HP and LOTR were in/on a bunch of magazines, this year HP was only on Entertainment Weekly in June, right (? that's the only one that comes to mind). Heck, now THIS is an idea---- <g>----Warners should've promoted "the young men of Hogwarts"----Daniel, Tom Felton, Rupert (I suppose<g>; there's some girls who like him), Sean B, and Christian (altho in a more mysterious way). Last year I think it probably would've been less appropriate, but even in his manner, Dan is no more little boy (this year for example he didn't act like he was on amphetamines at the London premiere ). See, note that Elijah and Orlando have dual covers for January's Y/M magazine. Seriously, I dunno what Warners is doing; if they're waiting for Dan et. al to become 18 to promote them, or what. You know what I just found out?---that New Line Cinema is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. So, ultimately, COS and TTT are put out by the same studio.....hey I wonder if it's just because they're considering COS a "kids' book" There we go with the discrimination of little short people again...... And as for Miranda Otto, after reading but one interview with her--I really like her. Donna

Miranda Otto is awesome, very bright, very non-Hollywood. I read bunch of interviews with her and she trashed Girl Power craze which equals female stenght with ability to physically hurt other people( she hates descriptions such as Warrior Princess, kick-ass angel, etc). You won`t see her on Charlie`s Angels and Lara Croft any time soon. If you want to know more go to: miranda.maidenfair.net/
