I live in Southern California, in between Los Angeles and San Diego. Probably a little over an hour both ways. That is, depending on traffic (Stupid 91...).
I never noticed the Christian's sneer during the interview. That might be because whenever I watch the interview, it goes really slow. I still have dial-up *_*
Mandragora, I've been to Manila. I didn't really get to look around though, since once I landed, I left, and I didn't go back until a month later when I left the Philippines. All I can say is that it gets crowded there. Oh, I do remember passing by the place were they held the Miss Universe Pageant way back when. lol

I love haunted things, or places that are meant to be haunted because of the history and I'm a bit of a history freak. Once we went to this place in Castlemaine (which is about an hour and a half from Melbourne, and it's near Bendigo which was the goldfields during the goldming era), and it was meant to be haunted, but I ended up staying in the car cos the thought scared me (I was ten at the time), and then my friend decided she had heard something and came racing back to the car herself. My brother's girlfriend and I keep meaning to go on this tour of haunted Melbourne. That's like the old jail where people like Ned Kelly were hung, and other buildings meant to be haunted from that era. We're pretty lazy though and we're both on different schedules at the moment so who knows when it will happen?

Ackness OMG, you're so right! The 91 sucks so bad, if you do a lot of commuting, you should get the Express pass or whatever it's called.
I used to teach 3 days a week for a grant and I had to use the 91 all the time but that was only within one city. The 15 can get pretty bad too, sometimes... And I barely ever take the 10 if I don't have to. Then there's the 101... Gridlock is a state of mind.
So you're in Orange County, I assume?

Ackness, you've been to Manila? Yep, it IS crowded (around 10-12 Million population by day). To be honest, there are days that I just hate the city and there are days that I just love it. The provinces are really nice, esp the islands. HAHA, I remember that pagaent, everybody here had a HUGE crush on Miss Belgium (she didn't win). That was the Miss Universe where India started to really rock the pageant with their pretty and intelligent women

I live Riverside County, so whenever my family and I drive up to Orange County or LA we have no choice but to go on the 91 -_-' , but hopefully in two year from now I'll be up in San Francisco, where I hear the traffic is even worse . (oh yeah, the 215 is getting pretty bad too...) Its been about 5 years since I've been to the Philippines. I was 12? 13? Yeah, I was with my mom and younger brother. Pretty big culture shock when I first got off the plane. Especially at the age I was, most likely a bigger one for my younger brother. I wouldn't mind going back though. =)

Ah, someone else who knows what hell is like!
Ackness, every Friday afternoon, the 60 West has become my salvation and means for escape from Riverside County.
Last year, I used to teach in an Elementary school by the Tyler Mall... are you anywhere near there?
My parents went to the Philippines last summer, but I didn't go with them. When they were in Manila, they stayed in my auntie's house (she and her husband have a branch of their business there) in the "rich side" which I've never seen... I go through phases of wanting to go and not wanting to go. My parents don't want me to go because they think I'll join the anti-American-imperialist radicals... which I might. But then again, I like being alive.
So, I stay stateside with my American citizenship and try to straddle the political binary: having American privelage while loathing the govt's diplomatic irresponsibility. But maybe that's too much info for all of you out there.

Murrieta, actually. And it is getting VERY crowded. After living here pretty much all of my life, this whole area has come a long way. The city has grown on me, yet I can't wait to leave.

Sam, you guys, you should visit Manila Maybe we can have coffee, etc, and have an Asian CC Convention! Yep, to be honest, the Anti-US rallies here can get out of hand... they last for MONTHS! Well, of course, with the war and everything, I don't think that the PI is the only country in the world who holds such rallies! I mean, other countries have like this 'nude' poses, right? SIGH, wish have that kind here... *ideasideas*
