Yeah it depends a lot on the person. My mom and I got our ears pierced and she has hardly any lobes at all so it hurt her a lot worse and if she doesn't keep earrings in all the time, the holes start to close up. When I got my ears pierced, I was 15. (Sidenote: I remember sitting there, and a crowd began to gather. Just to watch me get my ears pierced. 'Good thing I didn't faint or anything-- <g>). Anyhow I have thick lobes so the piercing itself wasn't so bad; they were sore after, but nothing was compared to a bad infection I got some weeks later...they'd said to keep the posts in for 4 weeks or so, but I guess that was too long for my particular ears. Another '80's fad was to pierce your ears a bunch of times---which I never quite understood, and I'm glad I didn't do it. I like showing my midriff sometimes but I'm not planning on piercing it (altho I read that Anna Paquin got her navel pierced for her new movie that's out right now). Actually I guess I'd do it for a role if the role were important enough to me.... Donna

Yeah one of my earings at the top ended up getting so infected that I got an ulcer there. Pretty gross. And since that I've not had my ears pierced again. I can leave some of mine out for a few days without a worry, but the newer ones (tho they were done like two years ago if not more) can't last as long before they begin to close up which sucks.

Augh, Angela, you couldn't bend Hah, goodbye navel-ing... I cannot NOT bend, I move a lot. What if I swim all of a sudden? It's gonna swell (EW) Yeah, I remember when I got my cartilage pierced, I think it got infected for a year It was hard to sleep on my left side! But then it's been almost six years (I had it pierced Aug 5, 1997... I remember because I couldn't forget that was the same day I tried out for a pistol shooting team, and I was told that my aim was inconsistent ) Anyhow, I don't know if I'll ever be a gold person. I cannot stand too shiny stuff, there has to be some matted effect for jewelry. If not, something craftfully engraved, with unpolished gems. Ruby and amethyst are very nice gems... and peridot! Just to share some info, this is a list of gemstones depending on your birthmonth: (modern gems) January- garnet February- amethyst March- aquamarine April- Diamond (any other April gals around here? ) May- emerald June- pearl July- ruby August- peridot September- sapphire October- opal, tourmaline November- yelow topaz, citrine December- blue topaz, turquoise

Personally, I love shiny stuff....I prefer gold over silver...in fact I really don't care for silver unless it's got another color to go with it....

I don't buy gold since unless I buy the really expensive stuff I get rashes from it. I know some of them say that it's whatever carrot so it's safe, but I still get rashes off it, so generally I stick to silver. Although I can wear white gold too. And I've got a few amythest things since that's my birthstone. (got a gorgeous heart ring with stone in middle for my 21st the other year!)
