Uggh..I've been pondering on this all morning. I keep thinking of Tom and Harry's dialogue in the chamber....and how all of that was an incredibly engrossing section of the book for me. I concurred the following: The basilisk is due to Tom/Voldemort, NOT the other way around. HOWEVER, when it comes to placing a book onto the screen it falls to the movie makers to decide what to emphasize. Visually (well maybe not to US ahem) the basilisk would, even on paper, seem more striking when considerations are made to deliver the movie. BUT, of course, I haven't seen the movie yet. I'll suspend complete judgement until after I do so.  Donna |

Of course not to us ;D Tom is what I'm looking forward to the most in the movie. In the theatre I'll probably be whispering loudly to myself, "where's Tom already?!" Watch.. ;D and yes, probably more than half the other folks in the theatre would be anxious to see the basilisk scene *sigh* it's a giant snake, no big deal |

As a snake owner (Rat snake called Angel.. For some reason he dont understand parseltounge!) I can honestly say I see enough of the little buggers *affectionate cuddle for Angel snake* I love snakies and I wasnt all goo-ga over the basilsk ;D Probably 'cos they said snakes can hear when snakes dont have ears!! Gawd! You'd think they'd get it right lol  |

Tom talks about his orphan situation to Dumbledore, not to Dippet, which is a change I prefer. And yes, color Harry and black&white Tom,etc is megacool. As for Chamber scene, they didn`t screw it up, there`s lots of Tom being nasty to kids and nice to snake, blazing handwriting revealing his true colors is awesome and the way he melted in the end...OK, enough spoilers! Anyway, the movie scribe got a bit carried away by Lucius malfoy and put more focus on him, well, the guy returns in next movies, Tom doesn`t so you get the picture. So Lucius gets extra scene such as attending Quidditch macth and they really establish son-father relationship with Draco, Lucius is dad from hell which makes Draco almost redeemable. Almost. The boy wished Hermione death we can`t forgive that, nasty dad or not.
Now I read Jason Isaacs, the movie`s brightest new star, won`t return for PoA "cause he`s filming scedule is busy with Peter Pan". But don`t shed tears just yet. I`m sure that a couple of millions paycheck will convince mr Isaacs to rearrange his schedule and do both movies. No way that this isn`t yet another actor`s ploy to raise paycheck. Anyway, as you could see from promos, WB put the spotlight on Lucius instead of Tom so it`s Jason who does all the interviews and photosessions instead of CC. Oh, well. He`ll time will come but not with CoS, obviously. Which isn`t bad, being identified with one role(especially in a fantasy movie) can screw up your career (once Bond, always Bond,etc). As for basilisk thing, movie-makersobviously did it right cause everyone`s talking about basilisk and Lucius, nobody`s talking about Tom. Statistics: only 1 out of 10 reviewers mentions Tom/CC, only 1 out of 30 messages mentions him but the discussions never takes off. They discuss Ginny, Ron, Lucius, flying car,etc in depth but Tom...nope.

I guess you're right Romana , Everyone who didn't read the books will think Lucius ist the bad guy, so he opend the chamber last time and Draco this time...because eveybody knew the bad guy from the beggining in the first film, because everywhere was mentiond Quirril and his turban..... And besides ;D If there is enough Tom ......... Ah this night... the midnightpremiere! I've tickets |

i think it's good they establish the draco/lucius relationship!! make people realise draco's only like he is coz of his father (my opinion anyway, draco's really a nice guy deep down!)
