LOL.... Anyway I was watching the red carpet beforehand, and I thought I saw Jude Law---I was like " ", and then right after the show started, very FORTUNATELY he was sitting behind Catherine Zeta-Jones, so I saw him and I let out some kind of exclamation and waved my arms at the tv and said to my mom (who was sitting on the couch), " :oThat was Jude! That was Jude Law! Did you see him?! " and as she continued to write some notes down for her work, she said very calmly, "Yes, Donna, I saw him." And of course when he came on to present a clip from some freakin' movie whatever it was, I let out a high-pitched noise. It wasn't even a scream. It was noise. lol Ok I guess I just wanted to share that. I thought Halle Berry's dress was (as usual) gorgeous---Nicole Kidman's was like an 80's prom dress, and Jennifer Connelly's black velvet dress along with her entire self was 100% improvement over her Oscar mishap. Catherine Zeta-Jones could wear a sack as a dress and she'd probably still be the most gorgeous woman in the room, and my mom thought that Renee Zellweger always looks like she's about to cry. Did anyone else watch it? :)Donna

I, unfortunately, missed the Golden Globes. I was off at the movies watching "Chicago" (which I simply LOVED, btw). I'm sorry I missed seeing Jude Law... I keep meaning to watch him in "Road to Perdition" but I can't ever seem to find the time to sit in front of the TV and get to it. Tell me, were there any particularly memorable or funny moments this year?

Tell me, were there any particularly memorable or funny moments this year? Nooo ....there was no Christine Lahti in the bathroom....there was no Elizabeth Taylor fumbling up the nominees..... lol I did, however, have some concerns: ~~that Jude Law wouldn't get enough camera time ~~that I'd be blinded by the teeth of David Schwimmer's girlfriend ~~where was Nicole Kidman's sister sitting? (was she not GOOD enough to sit with her?!) ~~that Pedro Almondavar (sp?) was, in fact, my friend Juan from college, and that nobody bothered to tell me Juan changed his name and became a director in the movies Misc Golden Globe-related Fun Fact: Paul Walker used to go to school with my brother, and never returned some white-out he borrowed. My brother still speaks of the theft to this very day. Donna

Maybe your friend Juan's name switch is not the director Pedro Almodovar... THE Pedro Almodovar is quite old, though it is possible that you can be classmates with someone in college that old, right? If that's so... WOW! "All About My Mother" was critically acclaimed, and that makes Almodovar one of the impressive Spanish directors. I haven't seen any of his late films yet, I think he released one just last year. Speaking of Spanish directors, Alejandro Amenabar is also a good one, he directed "The Others" and another Spanish scary flick, "Thesis", a movie about 'snuff films'. I know someone who says that Nicole kidman performed better in this film than in "Moulin Rogue", but Imust say Nicole has improved her acting eversince she and Tom broke up! By the way, it looks like "The Hours" is a dark horse, and I am quite pleased that Christian is in it. Oh, if only he had a longer/bigger role... but then he got to work with Nicole Kidman, and LUCKY HIM. I saw a bit of the awards, and yes, Catherine looks fantastic. Oh, speaking of a funny moment, the actress who won this category for TV, the one in "The Sopranos" (dang we don't have that show here, not even on cable) was currently suffering from laryngitis and her acceptance speech was something... she scouldn't say it!

I know. I know. I think I'm gonna have to blow off re-writing my abstract (for sen thesis) today just to watch it. Darn it, I guess that means that I won't be sitting at the Borders book cafe doing my revisions... and I was soooo looking forward to being served by the hottie that usually works there. Oh, well...
::resolves to get off the forum ASAP to watch the beautiful Jude Law be a traitor-- Bollocks to the guy who told me that! Darn Spoiler!::

If that's so... WOW! I really think the director Pedro Almodovar is older than me...and Juan is younger than me...I simply meant that he reminded me of him. <g>....... oh btw, for you fellow Jude -admirers, here's a link to a pic from "Cold Mountain" which comes out on Christmas Day: www.calendarlive.com/movies/cl-sneaks2003,0,3671832.photogallery?index=34 The pic *right before* it is a pic from LOTR ROTK, but that's kind of unclear. :)Donna

Philip Glass should have won for scoring "The Hours." Terrance Blanchard's score was pretty good too. But then, I think he was also ignored for "Bamboozled." Oh well. I suppose the score to "Frida" deserved to win... I didn't actually hear any of it, so maybe it blew Glass's score out of the water-- but I doubt it.
:: once again resolved to watch "Road to Perdition"::

Upon observation of the Golden Globe fashions printed in the papers this morning, I would like to alter a bit what I said about Nicole Kidman's dress. It doesn't look *quite* like an '80's dress---there's not enough metallic shine or ruffles. However she could've done better I think with the color....her skin looks ever so much striking against dark. And speaking of Nicole, I just had to go back to that calendarlive pic I linked of her and Jude. OMG he is so beautiful....he apparently plays a "wounded Confederate soldier" on his "journey home." He can journey with me anytime. (Here I feel all glowy) lol :-/And we have to wait till Christmas.....that's after ROTK....oh btw 331 days till ROTK.....soooo we get HPOOTP in the summer, and ROTK at the end of the year....

Okay, what was Lara Flynn Boyle wearing?!? O_O Yeah, let's dress like a ballerina...! *shrug* And Debra Messing's dress, I didn't actually see the all of the dress, but I thought she looked SO sickly in that dress. I liked Salma Hayek's and Jennifer Garner's dress. ^^

I loved Jennifer Connely's dress, but the ballet thing scared me. When I was watching the red carpet arrivals they showed her from a long shot and I thought she was a little girl!
Jude Law can't do Superman, because it's cursed(supposedly)and he can't get harmed because he is too beautiful!

Romana`s GG reflections:
All Catherine Zeta Jones needed was a crown - beauty queen crown, queen of England crown, queen of Gondor crown - she looked that regal, everyone else was pale in comparission even usually very glam Nicole Kidman who had very wrong do, very wrong dress and very wrong earrings.
Cate Blanchette is butt-ugly, I thought Darkness Falls ` Tooth Fairy got a gig as GG presenter.
Debra Messing is butt-ugly too and her dress was crime against humanity and worse, she thought she was wearing fashion masterpiece. Unlike brave& crazy Lara Flyn Boyle-rina who knew that her Swan Skeleton`s Lake getup was crap but didn`t give a sh*t as long as people bought the provocation and talked about it.
Jennifer Garner is gorgeous so is Halle Berry, 2 best buff bodies in the businss.
Meryl Streep should play a witch on Potter, she sure looks like one.
Sharon Stone looked like drunk hooker after giving her special service to Chinese Army soldiers (that would be 1 billion men).
Heath Ledger has zero charisma and he was so traumatized by his stage appearance that muscles around his lips and eyes moved and trembled in very ugly way. A sign that he knows that his days of undeserved fame are numbered despite last-ditch attempt to prolong the misery by dating hot&heavy Naomi Watts?
"Look what`s in my gift basket!" must be the quote of the night. Paul Walker from "gift basket" wasn`t pleased by jamie Le Curtis remark which sums up exactly what he is - another eye candy of the moment. As is that hermaphodite Mr Golden Globe (who can cut it as Miss GG, no one would see the difference).
