To all who attend this forum. I did not intend to use the type of rude tone on you all and take it all back. I am especially sorry to the poster who thought I was being racist, which I was not, but a mere spelling mistake in my post. If you all think I am who I am, then maybe I am. It has occurred to me that the first post I had made, the Internet connection I was using would not allow me to see any messages on the board, which therefore I assumed Mr. Coulson has no fans. I may as well register, but I am in the process of thinking about it. I thank you all for being great and respectful fans to Mr. Coulson.
Good day, afternoon and night to you all. It is a bit late and I am extremely tired.

I still don't know how I feel about what you said here. You didn't know what you said to me in the other thread, and I can accept that-- so long as you know what it means now... there should be no problem.
As I explained in the other thread, the simple mis-spelling gives rise to a certain meaning that objectifies and degrades the woman (or, in some cases, man) that the moniker is levelled at. My strong reaction comes out of a very negative experience in which an older "friend" of mine revealed his true intentions towards our association and expected certain things of me simply because of my ethnicity. Needless to say, the reminder that appeared in the form of your typo pushed some buttons.
As far as everything else goes, perhaps we could start over.
Hi Someone Special. I'm Sam (though, my name actually starts with a C). It's nice to meet you. Hope you like it here. We're an opinionated crowd and you'll find that disagreement can sometimes be inevitable, but I guess that's the fun part of any discussion. Tell us a little about yourself. How did you come by your username? I came by mine because it's my favorite flower-- I'm told by many that it grows everywhere in the Philippines. It's actually a Filipino colloquial name for what's known in the U.S. as an Arabian Jasmine.

For the question that was posed about racism. I am half Mexican though all my friends and all my family that I am around on a regular basis is practically as white or lives as white of a life that could be possibly imaginable. Though when I make a comment about a Mexican or something that has to do with the Mexican culture I do not expect someone to go easy on me because I am half Mexican. I make comments about white people and I don't expect someone not to say anything to me because I look white. The whole problem is that society somehow puts it in peoples minds that they are apressed and that they need to hold some kind of animosity against the other race. It is completely obsured that people are offended by niave comments. The problem is that people are to busy calling someone racist instead of taking the time to help them further knowledge. There is something that is called reverse racism and I think that it happens way to much and it is something that happens to a culture of people that uses the race card all the time. Then the problem is that it is no longer something that is used to describe the way people are acting to them but something more like the gigantic wall keeping them appressed just liek the wall that stands between my to great nations.

Dear "someone special," Again I'm not sure what to say except for the fact I am accident-prone myself....and when I try to access things like the LoveMatch site, the computer mysteriously freezes up... I had only recommended "completely ignore" your post because I didn't understand it all...but now we see that it's a misunderstanding. I apologize too, if I did hurt your feelings. Donna

Hey-ho someone special. Invitation extended Hello Fed-up, that's a very interesting issue you raised back there. You're quite right, in one way or another, we hate 'members of our race'. Well, that's not the right way to put it, but let's say it's like there are times you hate members of your family... it's a twisted form of parallelism, but I hope you get the picture. I don't know, but I guess a lot of people, especially those who are members of the supposedly 'superior' race are still into the acts of discrimination. Maybe, for people who are not members of such race, there's this natural reaction too called the workings of the defense mechanism, just in case there are obvious signs of prejudice. The taboos of the global society are hard to get over with, and as culturally diversed we all are, we all want equality and such despite the color. I guess it also goes down to the fact that there are selfish and self-righteous people who are white, black, red, blue, you name it, whose form of discrimination goes beyond skin. I don't like racists either nor any other forms of discrimination (those other 'ists') but then, personally, if someone makes a racist or sexist comment about me, the h*ll with it. What can I say? I am a golden gal There are ways and ways, but proactive over reactive, anytime.

To: Fed Up Re: Racism
I wasn't going to respond, but I'm currently suffering from insomnia.
I disagree. I believe that the dominant Western Culture does, through various forms of media, tend to oppress people of color. It's particularly apparent here in the States.
The animosity against Western (American) culture certainly does exist. And I can see that sometimes it's even justified. In the realm of media alone, there's a pretty offensive history of oppression: minstrelsy, yellow-face, racial type-casting. In terms of real issues: globalization, pillaging natural resources of less privilaged countries, needless murders, our govt supporting murderous dictators, and the list continues.
Am I being absurd for being offended? Let me ask you a question that might put this in perspective. Let's say that I'm from-- I don't know-- Australia or New Zealand or even India. I have no idea what the term wet***k (you get the picture) means. And I happen to use it in a scathing comment directed at you. How would YOU feel? Would you feel all warm, fuzzy, and happy?
I didn't think so. Besides, I already apologized for flying off the handle. What more do you want from me?
As for using the race card all the time... Racial profiling happens. Minority groups do get targeted for and tracked into criminal activity by surrounding circumstances. Look at the statistics as to who populates the prisons in this country.
Most activists try to educate people about injustices... And just for the record, I did not out and out call anyone a racist. I merely said, "I hope that he/she didn't know what he/she was saying because then I'd have to think of them as racist... and I don't like doing that." Or something like that. I'm very hurt that you think my reaction as nothing more than inflamatory and absurd.
Can we please move on from this?

I'd also like to move on, but several comments on this board have made me upset. Please just let me get this out: I'm Asian, I'm proud of it, say anything prejudiced against anyone, whether about race, gender, sexual preference, etc., and I will personally delete your post. If you think it's okay to discriminate based on cultural differences, well...need I give you my opinion about YOU? If I'm overreacting, I'm sincerely sorry, but I have also had bad experiences regarding race. If the Moderators feel the need to delete my post, I understand, but this is something I am very passionate about.

Sorry I overreacted. It's just something that bothers me. Could we please try to keep the good spirit of our board, instead of wasting tme exchanging insults? Healthy debate is good, but not arguments and hurtful comments.

By the way, on an additional note, racism is not exactly the fault of the society's overreaction to it... it is actually EXPERIENCED. And people of all races, especially the oppressed ones, are not as dumb as presumed ages ago, so racist comments are NOT naive comments. It is part of one of the aggravating things about people is that they have to at least feel superior over the other, especially over those who are different and who poses a threat. Oh well, I'm sorry if I am posting an OT... I mean, responded to an OT again. I believe this is supposed to be the thread where we make ammends of sorts. Okay, to (blank), I forgive you! Congratulations, I'm sorry! Heehee
