totally non cc related! but i just want to see what everyone elses views of the movie were!
i just got back from seeing the movie and i can't even begin to exlain how good it was!
i missed the 1st few minutes which was actually the bit i was most looking foward to!
but wow! a few thoughts:
gollum....scared me! lol i liked him when he was smeagol but he scared me when he was gollum!
treebeard....wasn't as good as i thought he was going to be, he was still good, but some bits were obvious he was cgi and the colouring of the backgrounds didn't match the colouring of him, merry and pippin.
eowyn....would have liked to have seen her stronger, like she is in the book rather than looking for/wanting aragorn every minute!
helms deep....brilliant, spectacular!
gimli....a great character, so funny! loved the one liners he'd come out with at dramatic moments!
merry....dom was great as merry yet again! reduced me to tears at one point!
oh and one more thing, am i the only one who can't stop laughing when frodo falls face-first into the swamps!?!
anyway enough of my rambling!

Liz, I agree. Eowyn is such a disappointing crybaby. She cried in every scene despite all the warrior Princess hype she kicked ZERO ass! And she was like 15-20 minutes in the movie, mostly crying. I read 100+ promo articles and they were like "Warrior Princess, kicks ass, trained swordfight". Where did it come from? cause her character in TTT is anything but. I don`t count 3-seconds of sparring Aragorn.
Eomer was in the movie for, like, 7 minutes all in all but the actor got tons of promotion including feature in People`s Sexiest Man Alive. You couldn`t see his face behind helmet! But kudos to New Line for giving everyone more promo boost than they deserve. You won`t believe how little of screen time these much hyped characters got.
You aren`t the only one who laughed when Frodo fell, my audience laughed their asses off and every time when Gollum talked to himself. I think that they thought he was a comic relief and really loved him in that manner.
Samwise was great, the actor improved acting a lot, OTOH, Legolas couldn`t have been more wooden. He delivered cheesy lines attrociously. After TTT I`m seriously wondering if Bloom can act at all.
Gi,li was so funny.
What was Grima`s tear when seeing millions of Orcs about? He wanted that to happen so WTF thattear-shedding?
ARAGORN RULES! Love story sux.
BATTLE RULED!So did flying nazgul, WB better sign WETA to do dragon effects on GoF.
Merry was great, he`s standing up to treebeard hints at his upcoming Witchking Slaying in RoTK.
Faramir SUCKED. What a wooden, unlikable jerk!
Too bad you missed gandalf stabbing balrog several times, very well-done.

The Gandalf scenes are the ones I am looking forward to. I never considered Bloom to be that great an actor, though he really looks good. Signs of cheesiness are already seen in the FOTR. There must be something wrong with his throat while delivering the lines, like it's constricted or something.
Perhaps CC can play Legolas? Blonde Christian in an elf suit... tights and bow and arrows. Hmm.

I don't think I could really see Christian doing the whole 'horse' thing. If he did, who knows... Oh yeah and then there's the stairsy, slidey, arrow-shooting bit, which I like to call 'BANG-A-RANG' because it totally ripped of Hook. LMAO. ... I don't think I would take Christian seriously after that.

Well, I just got back an hour ago, and I even sustained an injury. Well, lemme start from the beginning...lol... I worked today so I got home and spent an hour changing and getting my stuff together...I had to make a mocha, I had to get snacks together...well whatever. Anyway, I got a really good place in line--about 30 people back or so--which virtually guarantees me (has so far) me getting my favorite movie seat position. Once in, however, I looked for seats as my parents got popcorn. Unfortunately, there were already a bunch of people who were saving seats! So I couldn't even sit in the amphitheatre seating! I grabbed the 3 left end seats of the non-amphitheatre seats, 6 rows back from the screen. So, my view was encumbered; my mom made a booster seat out of our coats and I sat on those. My injury came during the scene when Aragorn returned alive; a man coming down the aisle tripped over my mom's foot and landed on my left knee. I'll be able to report more about its condition in the morning. To the movie, am I the only one who felt the 3 hours sweeping by?! Oh my gosh---it was right at the end and I was thinking, "Huh? It's over?! Already?!" Geesh. I don't think I know to convey how much it meant to see Gandalf vs. the Balrog...I only dared to dream to see this after I re-read TTT a year ago. It was awesome. Um, what the **** was up with Arwen going off to the Undying Lands? Is she gonna change her mind halfway there or something? Oh wait a sec---is PJ gonna have her meet up with Aragorn in ROTK and fight? Orlando mounting the horse.....ahem..... WOW. Now wait----WOW WOW Yeah yeah...I think a lot was cut out; I think a lot will make a LOT more sense in the "extended version." Such as....wasn't that Brego, ie a different horse, helping Aragorn up? And Eowyn....I'm sure she'll be 'fleshed out' more.... and speaking of Eowyn, ....her hair was always in tip-top shape, but it seemed as if they went over-time on making sure that all the other women of Rohan had tangled, dirty, unbrushed hair!! Does she own the only hairbrush in all of Rohan? Donna

i can't believe i missed gandalf and the barlo, oh well i'll see it next time! when arwen was going to the undying lands i was sat there muttering "no don't go, i'm sure this doesn't happen in the book!" romana, i didn't understand what grima's tear was all about either i've seen people say they think sean astin didn't fill out sams character but i think he was good, played the role very well. donna, i thought the time swept by too, i didn't want to leave! sorry to hear about ur injury. i loved legolas getting on the horse and legolas sliding down the steps on the shield! and about eowyn, she did always seem very clean and tidy while everyone else looked like crap! one thing i didn't mention b4 but am gonna mention now was how much one scene was EXACTLY as i pictured whilst eading the book. the whirlpool when faramir takes frodo and sam and they look down and see gollum, i couldn't believe it, that scene was exactly as i pictured it, there wasn't one thing different!

As for Grima's tear...hmm...I wondered about it, too: maybe he was filled with awe by the minions below his master? <g> I dunno.... Lizifer, I was astounded by the whirlpool, too!!! When Faramir turned Frodo to look at it, I thought, "THAT'S IT!!!!!" Of course, I'm still freaking out about how EVERYONE looks exactly how I'd pictured them years ago....I mean, you have no idea...... Donna

Well....over 24 hrs later and my left knee still hurts. No visible bruising...but...definitely sore. My brother said he'd take me to see it this weekend. I was discussing it with him today so I could get tickets ahead of time. He said, "You think it'll be sold out?" Oh brother. <g> Donna

Yay! I finally saw it. It was sooo much better than the first one (although I love both). Orlando had so many more lines in this movie. And Gollum-Smeagol was very funny. ;D I found an Orlando article in YM mag. He's broken: both legs, back, finger, toe, arm, and cracked his skull three times. Poor Orly... My (jealous) science teacher claimed that he broke his back because he was drunk and fell out a second floor window. Most likely a lie, but the interview did say that Orly goes to bars often...

I was lurking (for the first time ever) a couple of the Orlando forums last night and one was really weird...lol....I mean...one girl wrote that the way he got on the horse was cool---but "probably" special effects---LOL!!!!! and another described how she went to the LA premiere and he went down the complete line of fans and "Now [her] life is complete." Which is...interesting... oh I shouldn't be critical.....they were probably very excited as they wrote their posts...... I mean, as for that girl who met him, *something* was achieved---that particular achievement WAS completed. Still, this forum here seems a lot more like "home." Hey you know how Gandalf fought the Balrog and then he was so exhausted spiritually/mentally/physically afterward that he traversed the entire universe? That's sort of how I felt---LOL--SORT OF---when I woke up Thursday morning. I'd dreamed a plethora of dreams the night before---I had been all week, but particularly after seeing the movie---and I felt as if I'd gone sooo many places. Unfortunately, I could not remember them. I DO remember last night's dream, tho---I wanted to, so I purposely didn't set my alarm. It concerned a family gathering or something at my house, and Karl Urban (who plays Eomer) was in it. He was leaving the next morning and I knew I wanted to get up early, to get pretty for him <g>---however I was dismayed when I got up late. Nevertheless, even tho I didn't look my best and freshest, he came in my room. He went over to my bulletin board, which I have a ton of photos on, and he drew a square around my pic of me at 9, and then he walked over to me, and then I WOKE UP!!!! AAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Last night I stayed up really late because today (Sat.) was the first Sat. in several months that I had no play; I didn't have to get up early! woo hoo! ;D So I surfed around looking for new signature pics....amazingly, I found some with brunette hair and green eyes (usually people match brunettes w/brown eyes ). The one on the right looks like me! Donna

why don't those little signature pic doll things ever have glasses? i think it's a glaring oversight. many of us wear glasses, and proudly! hazel eyes are equally hard to come by. anyone ever noticed that a song has never been written about a girl with hazel eyes? green, blue, brown, probably grey, but no hazel. not fair at all. ahem... but my point, before that slight meandering, was... now i'm getting so excited to see ttt after hearing so many people talk about it, and i'm not going to be able to see it for *ages*. there are still two-block lineups for every single show at the theatre on the way to my work, and soon i'll be retreating home for christmas, to the land of no theatres (or anything, for that matter). sucks to be me
