A lot of you have been throwing around this "768" pages thing. That's roughly what GoF was, though a Bloomsbury email is quoting that length for OotP, which is bizarre. The official information released is that it's 255,000 words as opposed to 191,000 words in GoF. At 250 words per page (an average estimate), that's 764 pages for GoF and 1,020 for OotP. With the released word estimate, that would make 332 words per page for it to be 768 pages. We'll see...
Edit: A HA - the British of GoF was 636 pages, and the American was 760s-ish. So if printing stays on that track, the British edition could be 768 while the American topples over 1,000...

Ok...let's see here...at 1000 pages....well the most I've generally read in one day is 200 pages....hmm....that would take me....five days. Altho....between reading parts over and over again.....

Wow! This is so exciting! I can't believe it will be three years since the last book was released, it seems like yesterday. I will definitely get the fifth book as soon as it comes out! Maybe I should go to one of those Harry Potter book parties like they had last time, the ones that waited until midnight to get the book, and dress up like one of the characters.
At any rate, it's going to be some seriously great summer reading. Yet another reason to look forward to the summer!

I pre-ordered mine but am glad I haven't made a commitment yet because with the most expensive of the shipping rates I won't get it until 3-5 days after it comes out, and it comes out on the same day in Australia as in the UK and America. My best bet is actually getting out of bed in the morning and going to the bookshop. Or better yet- camping out like you do for concert tickets! LOL! I can just see myself doing that! Also- very excited about another star under my name! |

Umm....how did this thread go so wide? And how do we change it back?  As Lizifer stated, it's possible to get the book at half-price if you order it NOW at amazon. According to Leaky, it's already #1..... However I want to go to a midnight hoopla thing this time. It doesn't matter so much to me how much the book is...which I assume will be listed at $25.00-$30.00....whatever price it is, it's one book that is truly worth the cost, if not priceless. Donna |

i didn't actually start reading HP until the whole hype was simmering down..JKR even came to Toronto and read GoF at the skydome..my teacher asked me to go and i was like "Eww..it's a kid's book! " WTF was i thinking? lol this time tho, i'm actually gonna go sit outside indigo bookstores or chapters! lol ;D we can all write our stories about what happened! lol... ;D |

Apparantly no other country is allowed to release it to 00:01 UK time, which equates to about 9:01, or 10:01 in the morning over here, so that's pretty good timing for me as that's when the shops open and all....

well i pre-ordered the hard-back version from amazon and i'll buy the paper-back on the day of release! i don't think any bookstores near here will be opening at midnight for its release but if they are i may go and get it then! i dunno how this thread ot so wide and yeah it is number 1 on amazon which i thought was pretty crazy! i only started reading the books in november 2001 coz i was the same as u angela "ewww its a kids book!" i only started reading them coz some1 bought my dad a copy! |
