Lol, I love that pic! Kenneth Branagh did a fab job as Gilderoy, at first I thought Hugh Grant would have been good too, but now, I can't imagine anyone else playing Lockhart in the film.

KB as Lockhart; I admit, he did it good, but he really was too old, and his hair too short, and his theeth ( do I spell it correct??) too small, so his smile wasn't big enough. Ai, I have much comment on him, haven't I? But, after I saw the movie for the second time, my opinion about him has become a little more positiv......

I love that pic! I'd make one myself, except I'm completely computer illiterate. ;D I think Kenneth is the perfect Lockhart. I heard that J.K. tried to get Hugh Grant, but I think Kenneth is a lot better.

I thought Kenneth Branagh turned himself into a perfect Lockhart. The book doesn't really say anything about him being a knock-out, just that he thinks of himself as one and he has all these middle-aged women swooning for him. I really can't picture Mrs. Weasley acting all fangirl-ish over some Orlando Bloom-type of guy. He's not supposed to be all that young, but he looked young enough to have us believe younger girls could fall for him. Not so sure if someone like Hermione would, but they downplayed that part of the book anyway. Sigh...would have been nice if they left the first quiz in the movie "hardly any of you remembered that my favorite color is lilac!" Don't know why Hugh Grant didn't take the part, but I love Kenneth Branagh after seeing him in the movie. I honestly didn't think he had it in him to play an incompetent prissy and do it so well. Am very happy to be proven wrong and I've watched Henry V again with a new-found respect for him.

I have read numerous places that the reason that Hugh Grant was not cast (despite JKR herself suggesting him) was that Columbus (and the producers, I assume) felt Hugh could not "disappear" into the role...however I think once they cast Kenneth Branagh, they should've gotten rid of any of the teenage girls swooning over him. It's just too unbelievable.
