According to E! Online, it's Michael Gambon. E!, as well as theonering.net and The Leaky Cauldron, seem to be accepting this as final, even tho the only source to this information seems sketchy to me. Oh well. At any rate, here's the link: www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,11044,00.html Donna

Here's some information on him: us.imdb.com/Name?Gambon,+Michael courtesy of TLC. But IMDB doesn't list Azkaban in his Filmography.

I have never heard of this guy....I mean, I don't recall hearing his name....I've never seen him act.... Well....we'll see. It's interesting that they went with such an *unknown* name. And the other (new) cast members should be announced relatively soon, right (?)....Cedric, Lupin, Sirius......btw there's a new site about the upcoming roles---the descriptions of Lupin and Sirius have them listed as 35-45---which makes sense, considering what age Harry's father probably would be...but....doesn't that mean Snape's supposed to be 35-45? Are we supposed to believe that? (no offense to Mr. Rickman--who is a very talented actor---it's just he's not 35). He turns 26 in a few weeks...Viktor's supposed to be 18, right? Angela what do you mean McKellen as Sirius or Lupin? I think they're talking maybe um, the older Crouch...someone else too I can't remember......I don't think Viggo for Sirius because 1) he already looks "too much Sirius" in LOTR, and 2) he's not British. Donna but when Viktor was in the World Cup, no one knew he was a student, so technically wouldn't they want someone who looked older? and OB doesn't look like he's 26...he looks 18... ;D and the rumours i read were that McKellen won't be dumbledore but another character in POA...i'm not sure which one.... and Viggo isn't british? WTH? there were these other guys nominated for the role who looked similar to him...so .... ;D

J.K. said that Snape is 40, Minerva is 75, and Dumbledore is 150. And Viggo would make a perfect Sirius!

Comingsoon is reporting that both TV Guide and Entertainment Tonight have said that E!'s report that Michael Gambon has been hired is incorrect. (Frankly, I'm not surprised---after all, it was a 'source close to the production' or something<g>). The site also says that Warner Bros. has denied rumors about both Gambon and McKellen. If you'd like to read it yourself, here's the link: www.comingsoon.net/cgi-bin/archive/fullnews.cgi?newsid1041527960,87740, Donna
