I thought I'd continue on what Romana began..... I completely agree with Romana on her viewpoint of Lucius Malfoy as a villain and Tom Riddle as a villain. Yes, we know the first time we see Lucius that he is DEFINITELY a villain....Riddle is much more subtle and isn't THAT the way many people are in real life??? They're "eerie" to begin with and then everything builds and we eventually see them for whom they really are? Christian was fabulous, FABULOUS. Amazing, amazing to see him like that after seeing his performance in The Forsyte Saga. I am still somewhat dismayed that the chamber became, in a certain way, more about Harry vs. the snake than about Harry vs. Tom. Like Romana, I wanted Tom to go on echoing Ginny's words; I would've liked him to have mentioned evil and power, and to comment on the similarities between himself and Harry. Ultimately, much of the overriding HP saga rests on what is the relationship between HP and Voldemort----aka "Good" and "Evil." Yes, thank God the Deathday Scene wasn't in there. Chris Columbus has said he wished he didn't have to disinclude it, but frankly, it's not necessary at all, Chris! I think Emma Watson has *visibly* improved as Hermione, and that little Ginny, in her few moments, really stood out. I didn't mind Dobby as I thought I might, and I liked the scene wherein he was "freed." I think I might've liked to see Colin Creevey be more "in" Harry's face, but then again maybe they thought that would've intruded on Lockhart's being intrusive. I even had thought, via the many clips I'd already seen, that Kenneth Branagh would end up being too subtle, but I found that was not the case. However I found it difficult to buy that the 12-year-old girls would be ga-ga over him. Apparently, JK Rowling had suggested Hugh Grant but Columbus has said that he felt Hugh couldn't "disappear" into the role, which frankly is an insult to Hugh's (and would be to anyone else's) acting abilities. But, c'est la vie. Branagh was great. I am going to HAVE to see it again...I was constantly pondering over what scene would be next, when Christian would be onscreen, etc etc. Donna

excellent review i still say the basilisk is evil for taking away cc's screen time so there's no tom commenting on the similarities between him and harry? i always thought that was quite a big part, making harry feel as tho maybe he was sorted into the wrong house oh well!

I liked the movie, but was a bit peeved at the lack of the Valentines Day scene, which I was really looking forward to. It was a little rushed too, and Christian (of course) needed more lines in the Chamber scene.

I`m affraid that all the Tom sh*t about mom, dad, similarity is saved for GoF because those things are repeated in that book and the movie makers save it for graveyard finale. When Voldy takes harry to the Tom Senior`s grave they`ll let him explain his sappy history. Sadly, it won`t be CC who`s gonna tell all and he should`ve been the one.

i just saw cos ;D some points: *i still don't get how cc could look so innocent one minute and so evil the next, shows he's such a great actor. *ginny/harry, eeewwwwwwwww *dobby, i wanted to run up to the screen and hug him, i was laughing every time he was on screen! *lucius, perfect, think i just discovered a new love for him *overall the actors seemed more comfortable with their roles than in the 1st movie *there was one tom moment where he just looked pure evil, i really want a pic of that moment *loved the black and white flash-back scene *quiddich was a hell of a lot better than last time! *christian's parts were larger than i thought they would be, but they were still too short! that's all i can think of at the moment! ;D

[quote author=lizifer *loved the black and white flash-back scene *quiddich was a hell of a lot better than last time! *christian's parts were larger than i thought they would be, but they were still too short! that's all i can think of at the moment! ;D[/quote] Yes, the b&w scene was truly magical. And I think a few of you were saying in another thread how his face is wonderful for b&w.....it IS.....he has truly wonderful structure, and b&w focuses on that. I COMPLETELY agree with you on the length of Christian's scenes. I was panicked that they would allow him literally 5 lines of speaking. But, I think they are prime fodder for watching over and over on the DVD. ;D Quidditch was SUPERRRRRRR! However it seemed too short. But, then again, the whole thing...the entire movie....I'm having difficulty re-picturing because there was just SOOOO much! And like I said, I kept thinking, "What scene is coming up next?" because I'd read the book. I honestly think I'll emotionally pace myself better when I can see it again and not consider that. Donna

i was just talking to a friend of mine about the movie, she wanted me to tell her all about it but i didn't know where to start, it was so fast moving, never a dull moment, and the time passed really quickly!
oh i forgot to say how good lockhart was, branagh played the role perfectly, tho i still think he looks a bit too old.
and also, the spider scenes, i thought they were great, much more exciting than they were in the book.
i agree donna, i'm totally having trouble re-picturing the movie, even cc's scenes, i think i'll be going to see it quite a few more times to make sure i take it all in!!

I loved the spider scenes. lol yeah, I didn't imagine them that exciting when reading the books.. so that was great. I too, am having trouble picturing it again. I'd have to say the same that I need to see it again. Hopefully a couple of times this coming weekend. Perhaps there won't be many tickets sold out lol ;D I really can't wait for the DvD. I want to go through the movie over and over. *sigh* But it's WAY too early to say something about that lol. I believe CC had a great amount of screen time, because you'd think they would make it much shorter than that. You know, with cutting all those parts out of the movie? Yeah I think the amount of time he had was the best they could go. But then again they could've made it a little longer and reaching 3 hours. So sad we won't be seeing CC [ or will we? ] in any other HP movies in the future. It would be neat if he could come back and play some other character lol. That's a nice question to think about.. 'What character do you think Christian would play besides Tom Riddle?' ;D I for one have no idea.. he's perfect as Tom, absolutely perfect.

guess we'll just have to keep praying for a tom riddle resurection then me may see cc again in future movies i guess he kinda suits the role of cedric, but then again i always pictured some1 absolutely beautiful, like orlando bloom beautiful, playing cedric! but i agree he is completely perfect as tom, no1 could play him better than cc does.

Yeah but I'm worried if Tom comes back in future books Christian will be too old for the movie(s).
Nah.. I guess he looks as good as someone who would play Cedric, but I think he would be better as someone mysterious. Not as well bold I guess. I don't think CC would be good as anyone else but Tom though. You would really have to have him portray the character to have an opinion about it.

he definately seems to suit the dark/mysterious roles! i can't imagine him playing another other character coz he's too perfect as tom for me to picture him as any1 else! i guess they would think we was too old to cast him in future movies.

We should hope that he stays as young and good looking as he does now, for the future role if Tom ever pops up again.
Yeah, right now after seeing CoS I really can't think of anyone else he would play. It's hard to pick out someone besides Tom.

i think he looks a few years younger than he actually is, so he may keep his youthful appearence

Yeah that's true. I so hope he looks it though. You know what I would love? If JKR had Ginny die and Voldie would be strong and Tom wouldn't be a memory anymore.. Yeah that I would love..
