Oh it would've been.
As for Tom being SO important I totally agree. Imagine Tom coming back with a real important role in future books. I'm dreaming for that! C'mon WB get it through your heads

I don't think you could really fix the diary.. but it is possibly he might have another possesion of Tom's.. or maybe Harry finds one of his possesions since that seems likely

i think lucius will probablly have more of toms posessions but i'm still trying to think of a way he could use them to bring tom back....

Hey....exactly, Lizifer....Lucius planted the book in Ginny's cauldron...he did it on PURPOSE......as if he knew exactly what would happen.....as if Voldemort himself had instructed him to do it....and just think, as Draco has said, the Malfoys have a lot of stuff hidden in their house (!)

I don`t think that Tom wll ever come back. Rowling says that Voldemort is created after Hitler she won`t suddenly inject humanity into such character, she`ll keep him as monsterous as he is, face included. Second, Columbus says that he fell in love with Jason Isaacs face and wanted him in the movie, that explains why all of the sudden marginal baddie Lucious has become more important than Voldemort himself. No matter how great he as as LM it`s wrong to make HP movie series a HP vs LM saga when it is about HP vs Voldemort. But in CoS Lucious was expanded at Tom`s expense just because Columbus admires JI and let him play character, who isn`t supposed to be larger than life, as larger than life. If you read books you`ll see that LM in books is nothing like LM in movie (where JI worked on stealing the show from Radcliffe). original LM is minor baddie, way behind his son not to mention Voldy, Pettigrew and Crouch Jr. But in CoS he`s front, center and srtutting his stuff. CC/Tom is in his shadow bcause he didn`t try to strut his stuff, steal the show from Dan and go over the top in order to stick in everyone`s mind. CC was in character all the way and knew his place, besides, how lame it would be to steal the show from little Dan? Rupert grint tries that which is forgivable for he`s a kid (he always makes those "Look at me!" funny faces) but when Alan Rickman, jason isaccs get overly damatic in order to get noticed over kid actors, that`s lame. Branagh has excuse that his character is the way he is, though, but I think that he doesn`t have second thoughts about overshadowing children either. Anyway, I don`t think that any big suit (Rowling or movie makers) has interest to resurrect Tom.

i don't think branagh or isaacs were tying to overshadow dan or any other cast members, in my opinion they played the roles as they were written! but yeah it is wrong if the movies become more harry/lucius then harry/voldy!
exactly donna, he planted the diary in ginnys cauldron so he knew what would happen with it, and it's very likely he did it under the command of voldy!

Romana, yeah I just don't get Columbus sometimes. <g> For example, regarding Branagh----I was talking to my mom with my criticisms of the movie last night and I was telling her that even more so after 2nd viewing, I did NOT buy the girls going ga-ga over Lockhart. She said yeah she was going to ask me about that---she just didn't understand that, esp. after not having read the book.

I don't think they ever intended to 'steal the show' away from Dan. Don't take this wrong but in professional sense, who are the better actors?
I think JKR is going to come up with different ways to bring Voldemort [ as in himself now.. not as Tom ] back. Well technically he is back and strong right now, but I mean there's a chance Harry will do some stuff.. Voldy will be weak.. come back again.. and continue that.
Right now no one know's what she's going to do about him later on.

I don't think anyone "stole the show" from anybody. And if people were 'drawn' to Jason Isaacs whenever he was on screen,---well, let's be honest here---if you were in a bookstore, for example, and someone like that, with that attitude, walked in, you probably wouldn't like him very much but he sure would be fun to watch! Yeah.. but all I really did like about him was his performance... which was excellent. I totally would not like that type of person in real life.. who would? It's just the acting that people are supposedly drawn to I guess. He's a very very good actor.
