...and has some tips for you. First, don`t buy ticket for this movie cause CC has 15 seconds appearance in 2 scenes. Silent appearance. He plays Nicole Kidman hubby`s aid on printing press. Instead, sneak in after the movie you bought ticket for like phenomenal Catch Me If You Can or Two Towers or Chicago or quite entertaining Two Weeks Notice. These movies are worth the price of the admition. The Hours is worth only if you don`t have a batter cure for insomnia.
Second, don`t sit in the middle but near the exit cause once CC`s second appearance is over you can get out easily.
Finally, when you can catch his appearances. He appears first after Nicole`s argument with her cook in the kitchen. Nicole goes to her hubby`s printing workshop and there`s incredibly gorgeous CC working on a press machine. Another scene is right after Julianne Moore and Toni Colette`s lip-lock. Again, Nicole is in her hubby`s workshop and CC is helping. That`s all folks!
I noticed that closing credits indeed say his character was named Ralph Partridge but you won`t hear his name in the movie. Those scenes probably ended up on the editors floor. Sigh.
But he`s ultra handsome, hands down, and seemed very tall. I still don`t get it how come he`s so overlooked. They played Nicolas Nickleby trailer(God awful) starring very hyped Brit Charlie Hunnan of Abandon shame and I just don`t get it how come this guy is a rising star while CC who is 100000 times bigger a hunk and talent is overlooked and flying under radar.

Oh dear. I am not so sure if THAT is just part of the 'baby step' process or he's simply underrated. Was "The Hours" shot before CoS? Maybe after CoS he'll get bigger projects this time. Wait. Romana, you mean he didn't even have a LINE? Like, "Oh good morning Miss Virginia, I am your husband's cute helper, aren't we supposed to have an affair or something?" I don't see the point of having his character named if he was just behind a printing machine all the time. AUGH. Oh I'll still see The Hours. I love those three actresses, and Nicole kidman doesn't look like the Nicole Kidman we usually see.

Thanks Romana for telling us the specific scenes he's in. In one of yesterday's LA papers is the following excerpt from a review: "That the story is beautifully acted and seamlessly told certainly compensates for the prevailing gloom and doom, but that might not keep some people from feeling the urge to hurl themselves from theater balconies after watching the movie." HA! LOL Seriously, I lol after reading this. Now, the thing is....I might still very well go see this in a theatre and stay for the entire thing, because I have always loved Meryl Streep, and Nicole Kidman has increasingly become one of my favorite actresses. Oh...how many theatres have "balconies" anymore?! <g> Donna

Which paper? The Times, either of the LA of OC Weeklies? The Tribune? Which paper?
And I think there are a few theaters in the Greater L.A. area that have balconies. I think I'll wait to rent it on video. I'm in a "happy movie" mood this season.

Hmm...Thanks, Romana, for telling us about his scenes. I think I will probably go see it, just for a couple glimpses of CC. It's too bad he didn't have a bigger role, though. The movie looks really depressing. Oh well, I might like it.

I just watched it, and Christian DOES have a speaking part. All he says is "Good morning, Mrs. Woolf." but hey, it's better than nothing! And concerning his lack of promenant roles...maybe he's picky and doesn't want to end up being the teen heart throb type. He's probably turning down all the crap he's being presented with and is looking for roles that will actually help him develop as an actor and launch his career. Anyway, just my two cents worth...

I watched the movie today, and I really did like it. Despite being a somewhat depressing movie, it was honestly good. The theme of happiness and appreciation under all the depression was good. The Hours is depressing, yet perfectly true.
I think The Hours was taped after CoS because if you watched the Oprah special for The Hours, Nicole Kidman said that she received the script for the movie while she was taping The Others, which came out...around the summer of 2001, I assume. So, she was probably taping The Others around 2000, so casting for The Hours was probably done around that time. And according interviews with Christian he didn't find out he was going to be in CoS until Christmas time of 2001, right? So, he had to have done The Hours before he did CoS, or he might of done it at the same time.
I think his character had a larger role in the book, because he was obviously given a name. I'll go have to check the book out now and read it. I'm in the process of reading all the books his characters are in...almost done with The Pursuit of Love.
Moving back into the topic... Might I say Christian looked VERY good during those combined 30 seconds and that one line. ^_^ Those two scenes with him it have to be the happiest scenes in the entire movie. Hehehehe.

I downloaded the movie today and I saw Christian. It wasn't such good quality but I did recognize him, lol. I only saw one appearance. I have to look to find the second. Maybe I'll go see the movie at the cinema to get a better view. I don't know yet, but I'm quite sure he looks good in it. ;D
