Hey, is anyone serious about acting? I'm really interested in professional acting, but I haven't had any luck so far. My agent says she mostly only has jobs for adults. I'm hoping to eventually move to U.K. and act in Shakesperian plays (hopefully alongside CC). *sigh*

i was utterly determined to become an actor in high school, my life was drama class and school plays. but when i hit the real world, the ugly reality hit me - and i do mean *ugly*. i just plain don't have the looks for it. but being in vancouver, aka hollywood north, has rekindled a bit of the passion in me. i'm getting headshots taken sometime this month, and i've been looking into agents who'll actually have the guts to represent a large, not terribly attractive girl who could act the pants off some of their prettier options. best of luck to you in your theatrical aspirations!

Thanks, dulcinea! ;D I'm Asian, and there isn't much call for under-age Asian actors (who also have this annoying habit of popping zits and making them look worse, LOL). Okay, you really didn't need to know that. But anyhow, good luck to all wannabe-actors!

My sister is a proffessional actress, and she says the best thing to do is wait until after or during college. She also says to go to as many workshops as possible and build up a good resume. Once you think you have achieved all you think you need to make it big, get an agent. Audition for as many parts as you can get, and only take the ones you are comfortable playing. I am seriouse about acting too and have decided to follow in my sisters footsteps. I wish you luck with your futre(is that spelt right?) career. ~**kAiT**~

I'm serious about acting and film. Unfortunately, the president of drama club is an evil, evil man.

I am more interested in directing the actors than doing the actual acting... but well, if the actors couldn't do it... I'd probably pull an Orson Welles And Asian characters will be soon going up another level, trust me. There have been workings to link European and Asian cinema, and it's only a matter of time when Asian cinema will be finally on the spotlight! (but first, in support by the European cinema, which I have nothing against...)

what about ugly characters? are we ever going to enjoy a renaissance? leading ladies who weigh over 110 lbs?
*sighs* ah well. with a face like mine, i was meant to be in print (my response to a relative who tried to bully me into taking broadcasting. they were amused, then somewhat irritated).

I wanna be an actress. But I don't actually. I'm not sure. I'm wayyyy too shy to be an actress. And I don't know if I can act. Seems a little unlikely to happen. Plus I'm butt-ugly. Actually, that's insulting butts. not that there's anything wrong with ugly people other than me. it's other people. hmm. I'm taking drama this year and i haven't really acted before so i'll probably stuff up. oh well. if all else fails, i'll make moovies with my new video camera! lol. okay, me, stop writing/saying "movies" you're british! *breathe* Okay. "films". Right. got myself sorted. I'm strange. hmm. Bye!

I *want* to be serious about acting, but like other people have said, I just haven't got the looks for it.
I actually want to be a writer on a TV show or something, like Saturday Night Live or Mad TV. I'm good at stuff like that.
I think Adam Sandler started out writing for SNL before he became a regular cast member.. so have other ones, probably..
Eh, thing is, I don't want to end up only on comedy roles.. but I wouldn't mind it either..
'Ugly' people do good in comedy, sometimes.. I'm not pointing fingers though..

I don't think it's a requirement for an actress to be THAT pretty... I know, I know, but I guess what is more important is carrying that certain, 'kwan', if you know what I mean. There aren't too many pretty actresses, I actually know a lot of guys who think Penelope Cruz is ugly (but then so far I think she isn't much of an actress). It has to be TALENT TALENT TALENT! Well... there's also the factor of one's marketability since that it is also about money, but that weighs how much a production outfit is serious about the art of filmmaking.

i was very serious about acting and i dont really know what went wrong! but i do love acting and now i guess its just more of an interest rather than a career inspiration.
i would love to be a perfromer onstage and in TV dramas maybe even film but i think its just that i dont think i'm good enough and i have a very low self esteem.
yes i'm back - the reason why i havent posted for a while is on the Hornblower thread in the Horatio Hornblower board.
hope everyone's well.

I don't think acting has ANYTHING to do with being preety. Acting is about skill, baby! But, in these times and days, it is allllll about looks. Don't get me wrong, I mean there are some actors out there that are handsome AND can act( CHRISTIAN COULSON!), but I think that the media needs to focus more on acting skills.
