Go to the Profiles section, and then uncheck 'individual email' in the option. In yahoogroups I always have the 'NO Email' option, but then I just visit the website when I feel like checking it out. Hahaha, Christian as Roger? Roger is the 'struggling' musician, right? Oh, right, everybody (almost) in 'Rent' is a struggling something or the other Maybe if he's going to be in Miss Saigon, I should start auditioning for "Kim"... though I don't have chinky eyes and my voice suits more a jazz lounge than a musical (Though I can do jazzy renditions of Gershwin, Bacharach... and I can HUM Nino Rota, hehehe)

Maybe if he's going to be in Miss Saigon, I should start auditioning for "Kim"... though I don't have chinky eyes and my voice suits more a jazz lounge than a musical (Though I can do jazzy renditions of Gershwin, Bacharach... and I can HUM Nino Rota, hehehe) You're Filipina like me, right? (Though I'm Fil-Am) Maybe you can help me with the way I feel about this musical... I love the music, and I enjoy the heart-wrenching tragic love story. But the more and more I'm learning in postmodern discourse and post-colonial Asian-Am studies, the more of a contradiciton I feel. The character of Chris almost sickens me because of the hero-complex and Asian fetish he seems to have (remember that what attracts him to her the most is the fact that she's the epitome of submissive innocence) especially if he's played by a big, burly guy. It kinda reminds me of the mail-order-bride bull-crap. Sometimes I feel like the musical is perpetuating internalized racism against Asian women... Like we can't live without the "benevolence" of white men. But after all that, depending on the guy playing Chris, the character gets my sympathy. After thinking about it a bit, I'm thinking that if Christian Coulson played Chris, I would really feel sorry for the character... and I would forgive him for his crimes against her. I was just wondering if you could help me out with these contradictions.... As for the Yahoo e-mail thing: I have it on digest... but people are e-mailing me personally with this crap and I'm getting some viruses... I just want to block the person-to-person malicious mail... Is it possible?

Hahaha, you CRACKED me right there Is that obvious? Filipinas playing Kim most of the time? Why not Chinese or Vietnamese? I am going to have to say this, but we're VERY GOOD singers, aren't we? Yep, to be honest, if you're going to look at the Kim character at SOME light, minus the tragedy thing, it's quite degrading--- you know, the whole politically incorrectness of the thing. But when you think about it, we have such ideals of 'correctness', but everyone, no matter the color and the background and the religion, etc., have such 'incorrectness' towards others. I guess when you look at the history of the whole existence of Man, we can see the trace of the evolotion of the 'incorrectness' and now there comes the point where the ones with the ideals are working towards the evolution of the 'correctness'. I think there are works that depict either of the two to show how black and white things are but then the intention maybe to show that there is the existence of the gray. I hope you understand what I am getting at? I am not so sure about this musical, though, I am not even a fan of Miss Saigon. Don't feel too much contradiction about the whole Miss Saigon thing and Christian (might be) playing Chris. And why would you forgive the Chris character if you abhor him in the first place? Is it because CC might play him? If ever CC gets to play Chris, what you think of Chris is not what you think of CC. Is that the problem? If you still want to discuss this further, I suggest you email me personally. This discussion might be unnecessary in this forum! By the way, the email that I have listed here is getting some virus also, so it's possible that the one attacking everyone is lurking in the CC sites? There's also the IM capability of this site so I am just a click away in this forum Maybe you should change your email provider too, and use the one with activated anti-virus, like YAhoo and Hotmail

I haven't been to a nicer cyber-party than this... you can check it out, though. By the way, his private life cannot be anymore private, majority of the discussion here are speculations, fantasies, products of paranoia and the whatnots His single-discussion cannot be helped because he's a handsome man and we are girls (on the look for a handsome man with those substantial extras like intelligence, talent, compassion, you guys add more to the list). So it's simply a scenario of a boy and girls and those freaking dreams and illusions being discussed in a cyber-board.

"Building a Mystery" by Sarah McLauchlin (sorry, can't spell) describes CC perfectly. He's so mysterious. Then again, I doubt he's superstitious and suicidal like the song-guy.

NO NO NO NO NO! That song is reserved for someone else entirely... If said someone did not exist, I would whole-heartedly agree with you... But "Building A Mystery" is irrevocably, inherently, and COMPLETELY tied to a guy i'll only identify here as Buddy. That song's been tied to him since I was 15 and I'm 20 now! As much as I appreciate Christian Coulson and as much as I think that he's a wonderfully mysterious, intriguing, charming personality--- NOOOOOOOO! Give him "Sweet Surrender" or "Witness" or even "Full of Grace" but for the love of [insert diety of choice here] don't give him "Building a Mystery."
I know that I'm not exactly acting my age, but gosh darn... that song has been sacred to a certain memory of mine until now and I won't have it tainted by Christian-- however hot-desirable-adorable he may be!
And if you really want a replacement song, try Chantal Kreviazuk's "Green Apples"

If there's one song for Christian that I would think of, it would be...
"Colorblind" by the Counting Crows

Now I feel bad for my little outburst. I guess part of the reason I appreciate Christian so much is because of how much he reminds me of the most important influences in my life. In the way he talks, he reminds me of that once-22-yr-old-hack writer from upstate New York (the guy I called "Buddy" in my previous post-- which would make him 27 now?). In manner, he reminds me of the dude in my avatar (also a writer). Hmmmm. Christian writes... I must have a thing for writers...
But anyways, my point is, I apologize for my childlike outburst. ::resolves to act own age from now on::
