Yeah I know...I've been thinking, "Oh dear me, when is that next HP book coming out?" <g>...and then I remember, it's 2003 already.... That should give us all time to re-read all 4 books in anticipation of the release.
Actually a lot more goes into the release of books than we think. Bloomsbury/Scholastic have been semi-set on mid-summer for a couple months now, if I have it right.

I just heard that it's going to be released sometime in June. I think I'll have to wait until later to re-read, because once I start reading Harry Potter, I can't stop. I finished the fourth one the day it came out. I didn't even stop for food or break.

Strangely enough I read the first three really quickly but the fourth one took awhile because it was Christmas when I started reading it, and we were away and had things to do most days. And all I wanted to do was sit down and read the book!!! The really strange thing is my brother (who probably hasn't read a book in his life unless it's about sport) decided to read them after he saw the movie and he also read them really quickly which surprised me. And he's waiting for the fifth one to come out and me to buy it so he can read it. Stranger things have happened though.....just can't think of any.....

I just had a funny thought: I've decided Snape is gonna die because JK Rowling was being sarcastic when she said it would be "a fan of Harry's" and someone we've all "come to admire or like." She could be being really tongue in check and poor old Snapey could die. I read an interview with her when someone asked her whether Snape would get a girlfriend later on, and she was really surprised by the question and then said you'll see why though. Maybe Snape's gay?
On a serious note though: I've heard a few places that Dumbledore will die (albeit some of them saying that he will not really die, but that's another story), could he be the fan of Harry's who dies? I just think it would be interesting if it was someone other than Hagrid or Dumbledore.

Snape? Gay? i don't think so... I mean, it's still a kind of childbook, and I don't think those things'll happen in a childbook. Although, JKR knows to give everything an unexpected turn, so it could be of course...
I think there is something special between Tom and Harry, because... well, first of all, Harry's got something special, I mean, He could defeat Voldemort as a one-year-old. But why did Voldemort want to kill James an Lily? Why were they so special, that he kept on searching even after they had a Secretkeeper? Sounds al littel bit strange... I think there's more between Voldemort and Harry than we know now...

i doubt jkr will write any character to be gay as the world is still so homophobic for some reason i still can't make my mind up who i think is gonna die

I think JKR might have doubts about putting in a subject like that, but I think being gay is not accepted enough to write about... Especially not in a childbook. I think Hagrid will die, unfortunately. My theory is that Hagrid will go to the giants, and that might be a horrible thing so he might die... I mean, if it's Colin Creevey, it might be to easy of course... So I think it might be Hagrid. If not, it might be a Weasley. Not Ron, of course, he'll be there until the 7th part... Maybe Bill.. or Percy... or Charlie... one of those three... But I'm not so sure about it...

*racking abused grey matter between ears* Hmm... I also wonder what Dumbledore is going to say to Harry. At least we are sure now that there is a secret Harry must know. I remember reading a long time ago in a speculations page that something BIG will be revealed about Lily Potter, so maybe this is it. Any secrets Lily is holding? Oh dear, what about the possibility that Harry is not an only child? Maybe he's got an older brother that Lily and James had to keep... or maybe a twin. But if it is about Lily... maybe... maybe... she was a Deatheater. Like Snape, she was a spy or something. Oh... or maybe, Lily Potter is ALIVE. And nobody knows it. Oh well, but then Harry saw her in that wand-spell thing in GoF while Harry's fighting off Voldemort, so that means she could be dead... or maybe something like a wizardry equivalent of cryogenics ;D By the way, Harry hasn't visited the grave of his parents EVER, right? And I don't remember any of the books mentioning that James Potter IS dead. I mean, it is not mentioned clearly. I am going mad. If I were Lily Potter, a (supposedly) dead wizard, what would I keep from the rest of the wizarding world? From my son? She was adopted. She was never really an Evans. Her parents are still alive, and she never exactly knew it. She is from a clan that not a wizard would be proud of belonging. Something like the mystery of Tom Riddle's mother, nobody knew her. In Lily's case, her real family is like that, and everyone in the wizarding world knew the clan has perished, but they're just bidng their time. Now they want to have Harry back, their rightful heir. Harry Potter, the heir of... er, Dumbledore? I should be getting ready for bed

JKR has confirmed Harry will never see his parents again, so I have to disappoint you...
That's a good one, Lily as a death eater... never thought that way...
And Lily adopted... what if... what if Voldemort was family of her? A kind of older brother (very older brother, maybe)...
I think Harry must be in any way related to Voldemort... I wish I knew how...

I personally like the idea of Tom and Lily (and consequentially, Harry) being related. Like I said earlier in this thread, I think there should be something about blood redeeming blood, but that's just me. To make Voldemort COMPLETELY evil is too much of a cop-out. Even Milton made Satan a sort of hero (albeit anti-hero).
As to who dies: I've always thought it would be either Ginny or Snape (possibly Draco, but I don't want that to happen)-- Hagrid makes sense though. I personally would like to see Wormtail die. I like Ginny, Draco, and even Snape too much too see any of them go. I don't think Cho should die either. I can live without Hagrid or Colin, though. But Dean and Seamus must stay alive-- Seamus especially (mostly because he shares a name with Seamus Heaney).
OH! And speaking of Ginny... If Harry starts falling for her, I will be so VERY mad. Ginny needs more than Harry with his stupid hero-complex. And Harry needs someone who gets under his skin... hell, she should even belittle him.
To sum it all up: I hope Snape and Gin don't die-- but it's probably one of those two. Oh! And Draco and Seamus must live!

On the webcast of the London premiere live, JKR said OOTP contains a death which was "very difficult for [her] to write"---and I'm not sure if she said so here, but I've heard she cried when she wrote it. So I think *the most likely* is someone we all care about.
The idea of Harry having a twin?----hmm....not that Voldemort is his twin....lol......but the name "Tom/Thomas" means "twin." Twin Riddle. Riddle of the twins. Sooo maybe JKR has been writing something leading up to a theme of twins.

Not Ginny! NOOOOOO! Although if I had a choice as to whether she hooks up with Harry and her death, I'll take her death (but I'd be bawling my eyes out for two weeks straight). If that's the case, then I guess it's either Hagrid, one of the loyal Marauders or Dumbledore. I sincerely doubt that they'd kill off one of the trio... I know Harry always gets the credit for besting trouble, but he really is nothing without Ron and 'Mione. Oh, god. What if it's one of the Weasley brothers? She can't kill Percy or Fred or George... Nor Arthur. No No No No NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Especially not my Percy. She broke my heart twice already with Tom and Barty, she can't take my Percy away too!!! Ai-ya! ::slaps self:: I am calm again. T*ng y na! June 21st needs to get here soon so I can stop worrying about who dies! It might stop me from being maarte too!

what dumbledore will tell harry.....he'll tell him why voldy wanted to kill him all those years ago. because in book 1 harry asks why voldy wanted to kill him and dumbledore says he can't tell him yet.
i keep leaning towards hagrid as who will die, but there are a few others like ginny, colin and dumbledore that also keep comming to mind.
harry/ginny, i hope it never happens!!
