Why are some people sooo against Harry and Ginny? I'm just curious. There was some discussion of that on some HP forum and someone said that she thought Harry should remain alone, have no one, because he's *that* special. Which is an intriguing thought. Lizifer why don't you go back and read the 4 books. Heck why don't we ALL do that and we'll definitely have some things to discuss up to June 21!!!!! ;D Donna

I have some vague idea of why I don't like the idea of Ginny/Harry together.
It's the same emotion that drives the "Smallville" anti-Chloe people... The same reason we don't want Clark with Lana (when Lois is around)... Also the same reason that makes Marianne Dashwood and John Willoughby (sp) so unsuited to each other.
Harry and Ginny don't BELONG together. They don't follow any of the rules of romance in the literary canon-- which Rowling seems to be, for the most part, following. No, it makes much more sense for Ginny to be paired with Draco-- she's drawn to ambition... and that thing that we'll call for now, "the name."
Harry needs a girl to put him in check... pseudo-feminist. For those of you who've read Keith Lowe's "Tunnel Vision"-- he needs a girl like Rachel.

Hmm....well I can seem to picture Ginny and Draco together, that *would* be very interesting....altho Dumbledore said that because Harry saved Pettigrew, they had a bond or something, and Harry did save Ginny. But, again, I wonder if it would be more realistic to have the 7 books end with Harry single than in a committed relationship to Ginny. Because frankly, while Harry does have a crush on Cho, I don't know if a white picket-fence kind of life is what he's suited for. ...unless that's the ultimatum of Harry....to have a "normal" life, which he's never had. aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh we'll see Donna

If JKR cried while writing the death of this character, that means this characer had been around since the very beginning. My bets are Hagrid, Ron, Hermione or Dumbledore. Maybe Sirius Black or Lupin, but I think these characters are in this important transition because let's face it, it's their time... more of a next-generation thing. I would really prefer for Dumbledore to die because at least it defeats something Harry knows, and that is Dumbledore being the greatest wizard of all. I can see a dramatic duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore, and then Harry goes, "No..."... wait a sec, how come this reminds me of Gandalf's Fall Into Shadow?
Hagrid's death has been around, so I don't think I'll cry if he did. Hagrid's probably the safest way to go, but I think Rowling took a more daring road this time, it had to be somebody everybod loves... so that also brings Ron and Hermione. But then again, Cedric's death was a shock... something like I had to re-read the start of the chapter just in case my eyes were playing tricks on me.
I am against the Harry-Hermione pair up too... I kinda think that as much as Harry wants to be 'normal' he's not normal at all, and he's not bound to fall in-love in the end, really. I WANT Ron and Hermione together... they are so Yin and Yang! But then, maybe Harry would develop this certain something for Hermione, to spice things up between him and Ron, and for some reason, Hermione chooses the 'sidekick', and then Parvati and Lavander will go,
"Hermione, that Weasley over Potter? Are you SO out of your mind? Harry is such a dreamboat, and Ron is so... oh, I don't know WHAT Ron is!"
"You don't understand. It's not about who's the dreamboat or the more famous one or the richer one, it's about LOVE," Hermione explains.
"But with Ron," Parvati says, "you are not rich! He has to work hard to earn money! And Hermione Potter sounds way better than Hermione Weasley! And he's got red hair and you have ugly hair.... your children will have red mops over their heads! At least, with Harry's lustrous tresses, your bushy ones will get negated, and I do hope, honey, that Harry's are the dominant genes and yours are the recessive ones... except for the brains of course!" Lavender nods in agreement.
"Girls, girls, " Hermione says mildly, closing gently "Hogwarts: A History", "please understand that my choosing Ron over Harry is well planned. Since that I am the smart one, I will go to work, and I might end up either Minister of Magic or Hogwarts Headmistress. And since Ron is the domesticated kind, he will stay home and take care of the children. By that time Ron and I will have conjured a potion regarding the children's hair, and yes, I have also thought about their freckles too. And I have no plans to go around as Hermione Weasley... it'll be Hermione Granger-Weasley! This is not the Dark Ages, hyphenated names are so in! That way, me and my children will be like aristocrats... besides, with the money I am going to earn, there's this big chance that the Queen will knight me, and I shall be Dame Hermione Granger-Weasley, the Lady of the Burrow!"

Oh, I'm SUCH a Ron and 'Mione fan. It's almost ridiculous. They're like Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy (Pride and Prejudice). They're like Richard and Caroline (Caroline in the City). They're like Peanut Butter and Jelly. I've had to stop reading a lot of the R/Mione fanfiction though because there were too many of their stories that had WAY too much Harry/Ginny in it... and that crap makes me sick.
Harry must meet his own Lois Lane... his own Catwoman... his own Hester Prynne (I think Harry is SUCH an Arthur Dimmsdale).
Harry and Ginny would never be happy together. She'd constantly lose her identity to the soul-sucking relationship. She's not strong enough to resist becoming a slave to Harry's fame. Harry would wind up hating her because he's trying to get away from his name. And when I say that she's not strong enough, it's because that's part of what seduces her. She's still more in love with WHAT Harry is rather than WHO he is. That's no basis for a relationship.
No, Ginny's best suited to Draco or a Percy-clone (pseudo-oedipal complex). She needs a guy with leadership skills... not just a guy who fell into being a hero. Ginny is NOT her mother.

I think Ginny is a really silent girl who doesn't want to be in the picture all the time. Ginny might have this huge crush on Harry, but I don't think it'll ever work. I think those two won't ever be anything more than friends.
Harry and Hermione? Defenitely no. They totally don't fit with each other. Plus, Harry as the most famous boy and Hermione as the most famous girl, it would be too predictable.
Ron and Hermione? I never thought that would make sense, but when I saw CoS I got confused and don't know what to think about it. So now I think it might be a possibility.
If Harry would get a girl, I defenitely think it's going to be Cho Chang. I have no idea who else it should be...

ron/hermionie works i want harry/draco to happen but i guess it never will my love for harry/draco is probablly why i hate the idea of harry/ginny. if harry does make it to the end of book 7, i don't think he'll be in a relationship, he'll be single.

About the Harry-Draco pairing, I think it can be quite possible IF Draco would not follow the footsteps of his father. And this pair up doesn't imply, er, sexual tension or anything, but probably more of a Frodo-Sam or Gimli-Legolas or Merry-Pippin tandem. Something like 'brothers'. But then that puts Ron out of the picture... ohe well, he'll have Hermione anyway If Harry would meet his partner, he hadn't met her yet in the past four books. The girl must be something out of the ordinary, and maybe, someone who's not from Hogwarts. Wait, I don't want Harry to find The One, I want him dead in the end! It's not because I am anti-Harry, I think it suits more in the story that he dies in the end, or diminishes in the end, and it's not sacrificial, but something as fatalistic as his being 'chosen' to break off Voldemort in the beginning. It puts a higher meaning to the story if rationality cannot seem to explain the events

Let me be flippant for a moment-- I deserve it after a rough day in class.
Instead of a Tri-Wizard Tournament, they have "Hogwarts Idol"-- complete with Simon.
Simon: "Last year I called someone the worst singer in muggledom. I think you're the worst singer in the Wizarding universe."
Simon to Harry: "Oh, so you're the boy-who-lived! Boy, never have that bloody scar removed, it might protect you from your frightfully horrid voice. Have you ever thought of singing backup for a mandrake?"

YAY!!!! I get to see my first adolescent celebrity crush host the show too! I'm so happy! I kinda regret not auditioning for it, but that would have shot my credibility in music criticism. No decent weekly would give me a regular job.
But seriously, who do you all think would come out on top if there was a "Hogwarts Idol"? My vote's for Ginny... Let Draco come in second... and can't you just see Seamus as another R.J.-- what did Simon call him? A boyband clone? Seamus as Justin Timberlake... now that would be entertaining.

"Hogwarts Idol"--lol
I *definitely* see Draco in it...that's a pop star if I ever saw one. Harry wouldn't even audition. Ron wouldn't want to even tho he has an incredible voice but Hermione somehow would get him to audition. Ginny would go in and blow them all away...her self-esteem and entire image would be transformed by the time they reached the last 5 weeks. And you're right---Seamus would somehow make it to the top 10 despite not having the greatest voice, because somehow he just seems like a real nice guy.
Fred and George would come up with an incredible act of magic and mayhem to somehow get themselves into the finals despite their complete and utter lack of musical talent. Cho Chang would audition with a sweet, sweet voice and ultimately Harry will have to decide between voting for his best friend or the girl he wants.

Well then. I guess that leaves the question of who the judges should be. Should we keep Simon, Paula, and Randy? Or do we replace them with Snape, Lupin, and McGonnagal? We need Simon/Snape highlights. Simon/Snape: "I really should cut off my ears and send them to your vocal instructor. Maybe that would have prevented the excruciatingly painful 20 seconds of pure torture my colleagues and I have had to endure your horrifically bad impressions of a mandrake root." "Not even on Mermaid Idol. We'll pay your travel expenses home if you sign a legally binding wizard contract to cease forthwith practicing any forms of music." "Look, it's a Slim Shady clone. ( ) Who's Slim Shady?-- Nevermind. You're too stupid to be on Hogwarts Idol." Here's some Dialogue between Simon/Snape and Pansy: S/S: Where are the sirens? P:What? S/S: Dear girl, I asked where the sirens are, because from what I've just heard, sirens must have triggered that apocalyptic howling. (turns to other judges) Do you think this girl's part werewolf? Wait, I take that back-- this poor girl wouldn't make the cut on Lycanthropic Idol either. P: You &*(@ bloody @#$%. You're gonna see my name in lights. S/S: Perhaps on Sunset and Vine. You really shouldn't forget to turn on that red light. But with your Christina Aguilera knock-off attire, it doesn't really matter. Geez, I'm having way too much fun with these... Y'all probably don't even find them in the least bit humorous. I have to say, though, that my favorite moment on American Idol tonight was the dude in the yellow suit. (Oh, and the Bulgarians actually have a pretty cool singing style. The women all sound like Nelly Furtado-- sorta.)

LOL Hogwarts Idol! Oh dear, the Sorting Hat might beat them to the singing contest! I just saw "About a Boy" (very good one, Hugh Grant is really something)... and I quite imagine Draco would be doing like a breakdance number with Crabbe and Goyle... and then Ginny would be singing something as ridiculous as "Killing Me Softly"--- in acapella! --- and she goes, "This is for Harry". Or maybe RON will be singing or something, and he's about to blow it, and then here comes bestfriend Harry doing the backup and everything, to the rescue. Of course it's something Ron would do to appease Hermione (I can just imagine her rolling her eyes at first), but then she gets touched with the song, let's say... something by N'Sync, "Drive Myself Crazy" or...
