I've seen many of you state your opinions as to who should be Sirius Black or Remus Lupin... So, I decided to create a thread dedicated to the question: Who should play Sirius and Remus? I'd name all the nominees thusfar if I could remember them all, but I can't... So I'll just offer up my own. I've got two possible men in mind for Sirius: Joseph Fiennes: and Maggie Smith's [aka McGonagall] son Toby Stephens with short and long hair: as for Remus Lupin, I nominate the guy from this Volkswagen commercial (I hope you have quicktime): www.vw.com/commercials/bigday.htmhe's the guy driving to the wedding... oh and if anyone can tell me WHO he is, I'd be much obliged.

Hmm.....well here's my comments.... First, that's a ***d**n fine pic of Joseph Fiennes!!!!! Second, it would be interesting to see him (and how come he hasn't done anything in a while?! )...as Sirius...however....Sirius is supposed to be between the ages of 35-45, and Joseph is a bit younger than that. Third, I like Toby Stephens....maybe just cuz I remember that pose of his on that mag in "Die Another Day" looked similar to one of my own pics...but....he's only around 30, isn't he? Fourth, there's now another rumor flyin' around the net: Gary Oldman. To read up on it, go here: www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/Fifth, I saw that guy in the car....driving to the wedding, and no offense Sampaguita but that guy looks like he's in preschool. He must be only in his early to mid 20's. Plus, I don't know if he's British...I'm very adamant on that. Nearly as much as JKR herself. Fifth, that's a ***d**n fine picture of Joseph Fiennes (seriously; I am literally like this: ). There should be some consideration to the facts that Sirius Black and Remus Lupin should be British/Scottish/Irish.....and whomever is cast should not look too too outofplace with Alan Rickman...particularly with the fact that in POA, the fact they were all in the same grade (w/Harry's dad) is a prime plot point. Hmm... since that Snape was casted first, Black and Lupin should look around his age. So that would be a 40s 50s guy I can't think of British actors around that age who could play the two... yes, maybe Oldman and Byrne... but then that makes my two fave characters ancient!

Actually that dude in the VW commercial wasn't my choice for Remus Lupin, but someone shot down my nomination of John Hannah because they thought that Remus was a blonde. But anyways, I nominate John Hannah as Remus:

or Remus could be this prof of mine that actually LOOKS like a werewolf... but I think he's too old... but if anyone on the HP hair and make-up staff is reading this, you might want Remus's look to be something like-- Especially the sideburns...

Actually, he really wouldn't care... He's gotten used to everyone calling him "grampa werewolf"-- it's an endearing moniker. He's actually played a werewolf, come to think of it... When I was a first year, one of the seniors wrote an opera for his thesis and we staged the production-- and he was the baritone/bass werewolf.
And James Spader! But I could swear that I've seen him somewhere else before... I know that the Jetta guy also reminds me of David Sutcliffe (Christopher on Gilmore Girls) but I'm sure that I've seen Jetta dude SOMEWHERE besides this commercial.

ever since the lupin/black casting question first came up, i've been cheering for colin firth as remus lupin. not so much because of his looks (i picture remus as much fairer, light hair, light eyes), but because he has a soft, quiet intensity that i think would be perfect for lupin. because in the book he's always saying everything quietly, evenly, and he'll just come across as bland if they don't get an actor who can convey the true intensity of his character.
i never thought much of sirius black, but gabriel byrne... hubba. hubba hubba. i agree 110% on that vote!!

My little sister has actually been on the Colin-Firth-as-Remus bandwagon for quite a while. I think it was when we had a marathon consisting of "Pride and Prejudice" , "Shakespeare in Love", and "Bridget Jones."
I think it was when Renee Zellweger was delivering the line "You should seriously re-think the length of your sideburns" that she shouted it out.
Speaking of Colin Firth, is there anybody else out there who's looking forward to his new movie "What a Girl Wants" as much as I am. I know I'm WAY too old to be the man's daughter, but just seeing the preview tugged at my heart-strings... wishing that he'd adopt me.

OHMIGOD JAMES SPADER! Whatever happened to him? I find him utterly, uh, attractive (*background of Touch and Go's "Would You?"*) I saw him in "Sex, Lies and Videotape", one of the most erotic movies I have ever seen. Plain sextalk, no in-your-face scenes. Really good.
