Hmm...I admit, I never thought Tom looked anything like Christian. I always pictured him to have black hair and eyes. And I thought he'd be a lot paler. But when I saw that Christian had been cast, I definitely wasn't complaining!

i didn't picture tom riddle anything like christian coulson either. i pictured someone *very* boyish, since he was described as looking so much like harry - more slender and angular, less polished, more delicately beautiful than handsome. but christian made tom so much his own that i almost completely forgot what i had imagined tom as before seeing the movie. when i re-read the book now, the two images merge into such an interesting visage that i really, really envy those who can draw ;D

It doesn'y matter what we used to think of Tom, I think we will always picture Christian now. He IS Tom Riddle, just as Daniel Radcliffe has become Harry Potter. And who are we to complain? Wouldn't it have sucked if someone like Leonardo DiCaprio was picked to play Tom Riddle? Blech! Christian wins my vote any day.

I didn't imagine Tom Riddle to be as good looking as CC, lol, but I certainly aint complaining! Whatever I thought Tom would look like, CC is clearly perfect for the role and I can't imagine him any other way now!
Ergh, I'd have cried if that Di Caprio loser had been cast anywhere in HP, even if he was only a blur in the background, that would have been SO wrong! Lol!

I thought of Tom Riddle as someone who was evil first and foremost. Wasn't expecting him to look half as good as CC, but I've never been known to complain about actors looking too good for the part. Although I might change my mind about that when it comes to Snape. Whatever I thought about Riddle's looks, I think Christian managed to make the part his own through his acting. He was so good at being evil, I was seriously upset about Harry killing him off -and I had started to discover some other ahem fringe benefits besides his great acting. Memo to Hollywood producers/casting directors --Stop casting all these competent, hot Brit guys as villains. It seriously screws up my perception of good and evil!!!

A question asking whether Christian Coulson looks like any character is, I believe, an arbitrary question. He can look like any character he chooses from a pretty-boy to a thug (albeit skinny) to a grotesquely ugly charater. But I guess your asking what we thought the character of Tom would look like before we had any idea what Coulson looked like. I actually thought he'd look a lot like Christian... but not the Christian in the movie's promotional picture. I thought he'd look like the Christian in this one:

Christian looks incredibly old in that picture. It's as if that's not him. Actually, he's Tom though I had imagined someone with a more Percy mien plus the evil glare. But well, the reality's better than my imagination

oh, percy. now there's someone who looks nothing like i pictured him. here's a question - percy wears glasses. chris rankin, in many pictures i've seen of him, wears glasses. why doesn't chris rankin as percy wear glasses?! yeeeesh.

that was my 1st thought of percy, that he didn't have glasses in the movies. i always pictured percy looking like one of my cousins, and chris rankin doesn't look anything like him. from what i've seen of chris as percy he doesn't fit what percy was like in my head!

Hmm....well I guess I have to say that Christian is exactly how I'd pictured Tom Riddle...however he turned out even better, maybe, then I'd imagined (?) Percy is what I'd imagined, too. I dunno what you guys were picturing, but I was picturing someone really skinny and prudish...I think Chris Rankin conveys him great...what I HADN'T pictured was Sean Biggerstaff as Percy...they'd been considering having him dye his hair and have him play Percy..... .... Well that would have been a big mistake: Sean Biggerstaff as Percy???! He makes a good Oliver Wood, but omg, Percy??! That's ridiculous that they even considered that!

Um, YEAH...that woulda been a big mistake.
(Um, I think I'm beginning to type like I talk. LOL)
Well, Sean was all set to play Percy....well...he would've settled for it....I can't remember the whole story, tho, of how he came to play Oliver Wood...I think it's just they thought he'd fit Oliver Wood better.

i don't know if it's the writers or just SB's acting...but his protrayal as Oliver Wood is disappointing...i mean, he doesn't act as fanatical as i thought he would be... i don't know how they're gonna write in the whole "Drowning in the showers" part, becuz ppl who didn't read the books will be like "WTF? why does he care?? he didn't object when Qudditch was cancelled in Cos, why is he so disappointed now?"
and the thought of SB playing Percy is disturbing..lol...CR is PERFECT for Percy the Perfect Prefect! HAHAHAHHAHA...lol, say that three times fast! lol

It was the direction....lol.....my THEORY is is that Columbus paid attention to the 'focus' actors in each scene, but not anyone else. Hence, Sean's personalityplus scene in HPSS (teaching Harry about Quidditch) and uh...COS. Donna
