when reading the book i always pictured ewan as lockhart!
branagh was perfect in his actions etc but looks wise he was too old, in reality no 12year old would find him that attractive!
i agree, jude law would probablly have made a good lockhart, he has the looks and acting ability. i can't think of any other actors at the moment who would be better suited in the role, as i said ewan was always the lockhart in my head!

Branagh and Ewan look alike. Look at their mouth. Their smile. REALLY.
Hmmm... a Euro/British actor who should have played Lockhart? Pierce Brosnan, hehe. Maybe Christian Bale... he's quite charming. He did a nice film years ago called Newsies, and well, he CAN dance!(though I have no idea how it relates to Lockhart! Grace?)

CoS keeps nose-diving at US box office. No one knows why but it looks like the movie isn`t American movie-goer`s cup of tea. Although it looked like a shoo-in for long and prosper box office run it isn`t meant to be. Monday numbers are terrible just $2.5 million. Looks like thanksgiving won`t save it especially when Treasure Planet kicks off the screen and take away kiddies and parents who already give santa Clause 2 an unexpected boost. And I thought Santa 2 would flop and HP 2 would have legs!

I don't know why everyone seems to think HPCoS isn't doing so hot. Yeah, the numbers for the weekend may be down, but I think HPCoS hasn't faded out of the box office competition completely.
I went to see HPCoS last Wednesday in my obscure college town. Two very bad factors right? The theater, itself, was small, but two-thirds of the seats were filled. As for the college town-ness...I'm from a big city; around the metro area, people are always willing to spend money despite the 'hard' times. College towns? Not so much. In general, large cities tend to have more spending power than smaller towns.
Honestly, let's think about this: Who wants to see Treasure Planet anyway? I think most parents/babysitters would rather sit through HPCoS than Treasure Planet.
- Oh yeah, I also blame snobbery. There's plenty of it out there today: literature, film, music, etc. Art is continuously recycling. [see Joseph Campbell's works]

[quote author=lizifer and why the hell they needed sex scenes in there i'll never know, like we wanna see naked pierce brosnan LOL, Lizifer-----he just doesn't "do it" for me, either. Well, for me, it's more *the person.* Mandragora----CHRISTIAN BALE. Now THERE is an attractive young man. And um, did anyone see him in "Reign of Fire"? I mean, I didn't see the movie either <g>, but I saw clips of him, and that was enough for me. Can you gals imagine, for example, (I'm rotfl right now) Hermione walking into Lockhart's office and Christian's changing his shirt? ?? HULLLOOOOO. Wow. Ahem. I just stopped to imagine it. Now let's see...what could we've edited out to put in that scene, um.....shorten the spider scene...taken Hermione's cat-face scene out (just get rid of *her* taking the polyjuice potion altogether).....gotten rid of the scene wherein McGonagall tells the Quidditch players the match's been cancelled (and um, after seeing the movie today, I think Columbus SHOULD've, COULD've directed Sean B. to be more manic, as well as in his earlier scene walking his teammates out to practice I mean, other than to demonstrate Wood's Quidditch-winning obsession at all costs, that scene I think serves no purpose for the film. YES, PROFESSOR MCGONAGALL, FOR THE TENTH TIME, WE KNOW IT'S GETTING DANGEROUS AROUND HERE......) Anyhow, like I said, I saw the movie again today, and seeing the 12-year-olds as well as the TEENAGE girls (they oohed, ahhed and sighed as Lockhart threw them his cloak before the dueling) drooling over Lockhart just is NOT realistic. I do esp. as the days wear on <g> (wow I guess I must really have time to think this over) think a gorgeous young man was required. Hermione of all people would see thru Lockhart, come on!!! However, give her and all her female classmates a gorgeous hunk, and every word, every movement he makes would be overshadowed by a face seemingly illuminated by the light of the moon itself. Ahem. (For an excellent example, see Christian Coulson in the role of "Tom Riddle" in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.") Romana, I don't think COS has taken *that* much of a nosedive. Well, what I mean is, it's already earned a LOT of money, and it's broken records in other countries, and frankly I think we all know that every red-blooded heterosexual male in the US dragged their significant other to see James Bond. And of course there are improvements in marketing needed. Just think if Ewan had been Lockhart!!! They could've promoted HIM heaavvvvillllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Donna

Ewan would be great in anything Potter because teen girls and boys love him more than hayden Christensen. They say he was AOTC`s saving grace. He`s really cool.
Saw Reign of Fire in summer. Crap movie but Christian bale`s body is amazing. What a hunk! Matthwe Macaughnahay looked great too. Very buff pair.

Lol, I saw Star Wars Episode 1 three times at the cinema cos of Ewan! But I only saw episode 2 once at the cinema, when in fact I'd say episode 2 was a better film and I'm a fan of Hayden Christensen!
I have no intention of going to see DOD, I've never watched a James Bond film in my whole life and I'd like to keep it that way! CoS will do better overall, the fuss of DOD will die down by the 2nd week of it's release, people will only see it once I think, whereas die hard HP fans (like me!) will repeatedly go back time and time again to see CoS, even weeks after it first came out.

Surprised someone's heard of the musical Newsies, that was a good movie ;D he definately can dance.. don't think that would actually be a quality of Lockhart's though.. heh. I didn't get why Emma Watson actually liked the scenes with Lockhart and what not. Hm.. acting dreamily over a way older man, or hugging Daniel Radcliffe??

LOL Rachel, I STILL think she didn't like the hugging scene because it *meant* something to her to hug Daniel. And you must've seen her in numerous interviews too, right?----she mentioned the Lockhart pixie scene everytime when asked which was her favorite scene. And she DID do a wonderful job of eyes sparkling, gazing adoringly, etc. It makes me wonder if she used what is called a "substitution"---thinking of something (or someone) else to make your acting come across.

"give me ewan over hayden anyday, plus ewan seems to have more acting talent" Now this is offensive statement cause hayden has zero talent. I saw him in Life as A House where he was good but not that good, certainly not Golden Globes/SAG nomination good and he got those noms. However, Anakin is just worse version of his House character which makes his House performance less good when you know that he plays the same character over again with more or less success. And I saw clips from his upcoming Shattered Glass where he plays the same character (but wearing glasses very unconvincingly).
