There was nowhere near enough hype for CoS as there is for TTT, or even TPS last year and they only focused on the main 3 and slightly on Kenneth Branagh. No-one mentioned CC, I get that they didn't want to ruin the 'surprise' or whatever, but ok, so there will be exceptions who haven't read the books that went to see the film, but come on, the majority of the audience who went to see CoS will have read the books, therefore KNOW who Tom Riddle actually is. They have focused too much on the fact that it's meant to be a kid's book, but with the LOTR promotion, they managed to make it clear there were good looking guys cast for the ladies, but without turning it into a teen flick. Not once have I opened a teen magazine and seen any pics of CC, Sean Biggerstaff, Dan Radcliffe or Tom Felton and come on, WB must KNOW that girls appreciate them a hell of a lot! Whereas its all Orlando and Elijah, for the reviews of TTT in teen mags it always says 'Go see it for Elijah and Orlando!', no-one even touched on the totty that is in CoS, that annoyed me really, it really has gone unnoticed.
TTT will beat CoS, I dunno why I think that, I just have a feeling it will. The amount of media attention the film has had in the last few weeks, interviews with the cast at the various premieres (how many bloody premieres does one film need for crying out loud?!), the competitions to win tickets to the premieres or the sets, not once was that offered for CoS! Also, they had an individual poster for Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco, but HELLO??! TOM RIDDLE = VOLDEMORT!!!! You couldn't get a more key character than him! So he isn't actually in a lot of the film, he is one hell of an important characters, plus one of the most intreguing and mysterious! WB could have driven female kind crazy with a mysterious poster of Tom Riddle, looking all dark, evil, mysterious and sexy of course! I can picture it now, they should have got me to design it, really, they should!
When PoA comes out, they really need to target other audiences except kids, I mean Cedric Diggory is meant to be this totally hot guy, it even says in the book about him being good looking and popular with the girls, they can't ignore that. I for one, am very much looking forward to seeing who Cedric will be played by, I hope it's an unknown actor to be honest and definitely NOT Orlando Bloom, I have nothing against him, he's just so not right for Cedric!
So for PoA, less focus on computer generated house elves and more focus on eye candy! ;D
