Romana and Lizifer mentioned this on another thread, and I've been thinking about it for the past day or so. This concerns JK Rowling's comment that there are important clues in COS that will affect the happenings in the books to come. She said they are not obvious, but they are there. Does anyone have any ideas?----a possible Ginny/Harry romance was mentioned, but there are clueS plural. I am wondering amongst other things if the death in Order of the Phoenix were foreshadowed in COS. This would make sense. (But who ) Remember she said it was a death she didn't like writing. Does anyone have any ideas on this topic? Donna

at first when she mentioned a death i thought it could be ginny or dumbledore, but now i'm not so sure!
i can't see her killing off one of the main characters so maybe she'll kill off a teacher? i dunno, let me think about that one!
again i have to point out i'm not looking forward to ginny/harry! lol

I don't think she's talking about Ginny or Dumbledore. Well, I SERIOUSLY doubt it's Ginny. It must be someone she and us have much more invested interest in. There are actually some people out there who are really rooting for a Ginny/Harry pair. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that....I guess we'll see. Um...speaking of teachers....McGonagall??? It would probably be someone, at any rate, who makes some sort of sacrifice. Ron I know that's far-fetched. Rupert Grint himself said he hopes Ron dies before he and Hermione pair up. Donna

yeah mcgonagall could die, she seems the most likely teacher to die anyway..... she can't kill off snape, she can't get rid of him or draco coz they're like the best characters in it! lol i can't really see why people want harry/ginny, i dunno why but the thought of those two....ewwwwww! no thank you! nah i can't see it being ron or hermionie coz they're important characters. what about one of the other weasleys? i mean theres a massive family full of 'em so losing one won't be a big loss

And why can't a main chacater die? One most certainly can. And if it was hard for her to write this death-I highly doubt it's Filch or Professor Vector. ....*coughs*Draco/Hermione *

In COS I think they are setting up Harry/Ginny AND Hermione/Ron! (I'm Ginny/Draco, Harry/Hermione and Ron dies heh!) The character I think she'll kill of in the 5th book is one of the Creeveys (If she's happy maybe both!) because she mentioned a "fan of Harry's will die". In the 6th book I think Ron will die, he's Harry best mate. Harry needs to kill Voldemort and Hermione needs to be there to be the war victim! In the 7th book I think Harry will die, Dumbledore will die, Voldemorty will die (weep heh!) and alot of Students/Teahers/DE's.
The final battle scene!
Harry is inside the Forbidden Forrest. Voldemort cowers over him, wand in hand. "We meet again, Mr Potter" says Voldemort idly twirling the wand. "Only tonight will be our last meeting" Harry's eyes rapidly flick from the body of Dumbledore to Voldemort. "And Dumbledore, dead. No-one can outpower me! Not even Harry Potter" Voldemort pauses "You know there is no curse that will kill me. I am protected agasint everything. Of course the mudblood over here could have told you" gesturing behind him, Harry struggles to get a look. Hermione is tied to the ground, her eyes open in shock and horror. 'No' Harry thought 'I promise Ron I would not let you die!' "Any last words? sneered Voldemort "Yes" panted Harry "Goodbye" Drawing the sword of Gryffindor, he plunges it into his chest. "We now share blood, If I go you go." he said panting as the blood drained from the hole "Hermione" he gestured "I love you so much" Hermione gasped, silent tears pouring down her face as Harry Potter, the Boy-who-lived, died.
The End! Then Hermione cleverly gets pregnant with Harry's baby and her and Draco raise "James Harry Ron Malfoy" at Malfoy mannor and live happily ever after! (Ok this part dont happen but who cares lol) Oh yeah! Tom comes back from the diary (Lucius managed to work it the clever bugger) and posses Ginny who kills the Weasleys and marries Tom! Yay! lol
(Purely fiction. I assure you)

[quote author=Hazelyn (Purely fiction. I assure you)[/quote] Are you sure, Hazelyn? Are you ABSOLUTELY sure it's not a true story? lol...... I'd forgotten that JK Rowling'd said it would be a "FAN" of Harry's. Nevertheless it doesn't mean it's Colin Creevey; I can't picture her being that invested/hurt in writing Colin's death. UNLESS....unless what she actually meant when she said she was writing a death that was very difficult for her was NOT that the character was in all the books/well-loved, etc., but that the INSTANCE(S) of his death were difficult to write. One of the Weasleys?----people have pondered this, but somehow...I dunno. Maybe it IS Ron. I mean, talk about writing something with difficulty.....we all know that everybody's saying that Ron and Hermione are going to get together, but wouldn't it just be like JK Rowling (as it is in life) to do the absolutely completely unexpected? And then that might actually give Hermione a reason to include herself further against Voldemort...and with Harry.... Donna

i'm with hazelyn in the fact that harry and voldy will die in the last book, harry will realise in order to vill voldy he has to sacrifice himself, or something like that! donna, i never thought about that, she could have meant the actual death, circumstances of the death etc were hard to write, that actually makes sense ok, so here's a theory, ron and hermionie finally get together, only for ron to get killed, sacrificing himself to save her or harry?

Ron sacrificing himself to save Hermione? Hmmm....interesting. THAT would provide Hermione with more investment on helping rid the world of Voldemort.

JKR says that the very last sentence in the very last book will be about scars. She also says that Ginny`s role will expand in book 5 so she doesn`t look like dead meat to me. Besides, maybe book 2 mystery she mentioned doesn`t have anything to do with character`s death in book5. It may be the Godrik Gryffindore thingy, that Harry`s Gryffindore`s heir which many fans suspect since he pulled his sword out of his Sorting Hat. I was joking about Ginny/harry bcause of fan`s obsession with that pairing rather than with debating Tom Riddle in the movie. I`m 99% positive that it`s Gryffindore`s Heir thing. And it`s about time to see harry speak parsletongue again. Also, since we learn he possesses Voldy`s powers and personal traits it would be cool to see Dark harry but I doubt JKR will ever address this subject. My money`s on Gryffindore thing although i`d love it to be Tom`s resurrection. Bring Tom-like Voldy back! You know why.

I just came back from the cinema! Eeeek! HPCOS was fantastic. Christian? Oooh yeah! Good stuff. Good evil stuff. Riddle's Conan O'Brien-flip? Is that really what men's hair was all about fifty years ago? Christian sure likes to move his lips when he speaks. I bet his favorite game is Enunciate. Er...about the movie, did anyone notice Gryffindor's sword was less like a sword and more like a letter opener? I was wondering, does JK work closely with Kloves/Heyman/Columbus? At the end of HPCOS, Harry says to Hagrid, "It wouldn't be Hogwarts without you." I'm hoping it doesn't mean anything because Hagrid irritates the bejesus outta me. *crosses fingers* Good film! Woo! See it! Or see it again!

Hmm...I also got to listen to that audio interview of JKR. I don't really like to predict what will happen in the end, and what romance pairs will develop but me personally, I'm rooting for Harry/Hermione--but from the way the books are leading to I highly doubt that will be the case. I have a feeling we will be seeing a Ron/Hermione thing going on in future books! Heh. I guess all we know for sure is a clue of what will happen in the end (as what Romana said). JKR mentioned that the last word in Book 7 will be "scar". JKR has mentioned this a year or two years ago in an interview.
Hmmm...Chamber of Secrets does indeed carry some interesting clues! Heh. But I think one of the important clues that JKR was hinting on in book 2 was when Draco mentioned to Ron and Harry (when they were Crabbe and Goyle of course!) --that his father (Lucius) had some dark arts stuff contained in a secret area under the Drawing room. Maybe it's a clue to something???
And another thing that has been bothering me a bit about CoS since I read it the first time--was how Lucius got hold of the diary of Riddle. And for that matter there was a hint in the book and movie that he may have other things belonging to Tom Riddle...What? Did Voldemort give his personal effects to Lucius willingly for safe keeping? How high up is Lucius *really* in the deatheater circle? That part of how Lucius got the diary keeps on bothering me somehow...

i heard that about the last word of book 7 being 'scar', i had a few ideas what the last sentance could be but i think they're all kinda crap! i'd like to see what (i think) the real draco is, him stop being what his father wants him to be and be his own person. yeah i don't remember it ever being explained how lucius got tom's diary so maybe he is holding some more of tom's stuff, meaning a tom resurection could happen yay ;D
