Very interesting indeed.
I think JKR mentioned something about death... maybe with the death of Harry's fan, he'll be curious about death and everything.
It has just crossed my mind, but what if Ron dies? And then Harry contemplates the death of his bestfriend. I think there is also the explanation why some souls remain on earth... maybe in Ron's case his ghost will remain ala Myrtle? *eek, starts to think about ron and Myrtle*
Maybe Voldy will be resurrected by a new student? Like he possesses the body of this kid? Or the new DADA prof--- I heard it's going to be a woman!
And then Harry and Hermione do all these spells in order to have Ron back... oohh, THAT is hard to write and hard to accept by the readers! But then that's SO spicy!

i'm convinced harry will have to die to kill voldy, but like donna said, the phoenix thing could be relevant, he could get resurected!
i'm gonna re-read the books and look for deeper meanings soon...

Harry dying to kill Voldemort is hard to get through my mind, not sure why though since it sounds like something JKR would make happen.
I think the new DADA professor is definately going to be Arabella Figg. I mean people think Fleur's going to be the new teacher... that's really ironic. But being one of the 'old gang' Mrs. Figg should be the new professor.. and she should be all nice and stuff, like a female Lupin. I'm just kind of guessing lol

yeah that'd be a good way to make figg a main character in the book!
i really can't picture fleur being a teacher!

Yeah, and I hope it does turn out that way. I've been trying to look over the books for awhile summing up things that might happen with her.. Nothing so far. But being that same 'Mrs. Figg' she might possibly reveal things to Harry.. things I mean as in his family. [ Perhaps that big piece of information revealed about Lily that's being rumored.. I heard that we're going to learn things about her in the next book ]
Who knows?

Haha, I dunno. Has anyone thought of what the main plot of OotP is going to be like? I really didn't get the title at first.. but of course it's dealing with Fawkes and possibly Dumbledore. I'm not sure, but I can wait and see

Hey maybe it'll turn out that Tom Riddle was in love with Lily....(nodding my head here <g>)....and she was enamoured of him, but then her instincts got the better of her, and she fell in love with James....this would explain why Voldemort only killed her when she attempted to protect Harry..... This would also help explain why Voldemort hates Harry so....why he feels connected to him simultaneously...they both loved, and were loved, by Lily, only Harry wasn't conceived via Tom as Tom would've wanted
That might be far-out, but hey, it's an idea....
I keep thinking of how JKR said that it would be a "fan" of Harry's who dies...again...back to Colin Creevey. Colin got nearly run over in the movie...lol.... OR....GINNY. She's a fan...she's in awe of Harry.....always was.....and she's curious and suffers from a serious lack of everybody's (esp. Harry's) attention..........Oh wait a minute....Harry saved her in COS; maybe she'll sacrifice herself in OOTP for him.....

LILY and VOLDEMORT? Wait a sec, I think Voldy's a LOT older than Lily... I mean, when CoS happened it was fifty years after Tom opened it, and at that time Tom is already 16. So when CoS was opened, Voldie/Tom is 66! And Lily was supposed to be in her thirtys... though was it ever mentioned James'/Lily's generation? Unless... Voldy is REALLY Lily's father! Both of them has green eyes... Aunt Petunia has dark features... Harry resembles Tom Riddle! I read in another site that it IS important to know why Lily had red hair and green eyes, though I am not so sure if that is to come up in Book 5 or in the 6th or 7th. And that there's something about Lily that is critical that will be revealed about her... Heehee. And well, there's also supposedlya Dursley-secret.... Vernon and Voldemort--- cousins? This is turning into an effing soap opera. ;D

I heard that Voldie was Lily's father in a rumor before.. It does seem plausible (This is from the girl that thinks Hermione and Snape are perfect for each other tho!... I can imagne it... "Harry I am your grandfather..." Heavy breathing "NOOOOOO" fainting It could happen .. anythings possible!

Oh I got the time wrong. I was thinking Tom Riddle was in school with Harry's parents and Snape, Lupin etc....but...50 years ago? How *old* was Hagrid then? I mean, how old is he supposed to be?
Aunt Petunia in the books isn't dark-haired---in fact, the Dursleys are blonde in the books. So, that doesn't quite compute. HOWEVER....that is still very different from Lily's red hair. What if....Lily were ADOPTED?! That would help explain why she turned out to be a witch, and not Petunia. Heck, maybe Lily's a Weasley (?)...I dunno. Yet...maybe this is a case similar to her own son's, where an important witch/wizard was placed in the hands of a Muggle family in order to be raised away from the wizarding world....maybe Tom Riddle WAS her father....maybe he didn't even know it.
BOOK FIVE BOOK FIVE!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH

I have calculated how old Hagrid is (quite simple, really) he was 13 when he was expelled. that was 50 years before cos, so then he was 63 in cos. so that would make him 66 in the fifth book.. etc.
;D

I was wondering the same thing yesterday. Maybe it has to do with ability...I mean, for one, doing the spells correctly...on the other hand Neville can't seem to do anything right, so how the heck did he get in? Another possibility is UNDERSTANDING/ACCEPTANCE of the wizarding world, but then again, why were Lily's parents apparently *not* witch/wizard? And Hermione's parents are so accepting that they accompany her into Diagon Alley to help her purchase her things. So what gives? What IS the criteria for getting into Hogwarts (or any other wizarding school?)
Any ideas?

glad i'm not the only 1 who doesn't understand!! from what i can remember of my biology/genetics lessons u have dominant and recessive genes. so if each parent has a recessive gene then the child inherits that trait so i guess it could work like that, that would explain why wizards can be born to muggles!
and about entry requirements into hogwarts, they can't really go on ability, neville being like he is! lol
